Job Details:
The Hatchery Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the operations of a specific hatchery, ensuring efficient day-to-day activities and developing strategies for continuous improvement. Key responsibilities include:
- Operational Monitoring: Supervise daily hatchery operations, including chick delivery, flock pull sheets, and mortality charts. Maintain logs for each truck, detailing miles and hours worked by each driver, and ensure timely movement of chicks to farms as per the shipment schedule.
- Equipment Management: Monitor and maintain incubation and hatchery equipment, as well as environmental control systems. Ensure optimal functioning to support hatchery operations.
- Personnel Supervision: Lead and manage hatchery personnel, overseeing chick delivery and pick-up, and ensuring adherence to operational standards.
- Egg Grading: Grade fleets of eggs from hen farms to ensure quality standards are met.
- Vaccination Preparation: Prepare vaccines for chickens, ensuring proper administration and documentation.
- Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as needed and as assigned by the manager.
Work Schedule:
- Monday – Friday, approximately 5:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Qualifications:
- Education: Post-secondary education, including special training, vocational school, or college courses, preferred
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in manufacturing or Fresh Meats.
- Computer Skills: Basic computer proficiency.
- Travel: Occasional travel, approximately 1-2 times per year.
- Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise a team of personnel within a single department or work unit, ensuring efficient performance of interrelated tasks and activities.
