Job description:
Purpose
The Mechanical Gold Supervisor is responsible for the installation, management, safe operation, and maintenance of equipment in the Gold Area, including machinery and processes in a world-class operating plant.
📋 Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and legal regulations (HSE, finance, HR, etc.).
- Operate within Zambian laws.
- Develop safe working procedures and participate in HSE initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with H&S standards (e.g., lockout/tagout).
- Create and implement Standard Work Instructions (SWIs).
- Apply best-practice maintenance techniques.
- Conduct formal workplace inspections and corrective actions.
- Supervise execution of maintenance plans.
- Use computerized maintenance systems for scheduling and tracking.
- Report on maintenance activities and equipment performance.
- Monitor component wear and tear.
- Provide hands-on technical and supervisory support.
- Recommend improvements to plant design and equipment performance.
- Enforce housekeeping standards.
- Manage team performance through reviews and coaching.
- Identify training opportunities and mentor staff.
- Promote a positive employee environment.
- Perform other duties as required.
🎓 Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related trade.
- EIZ & ERB membership/registration.
- Knowledge of manual, electrical, and hydraulic tools.
- Proficiency in metrology and technical drawing interpretation.
- Computer literacy and fluency.
- Experience with PRONTO or similar systems.
- Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
📈 Experience
- Minimum 5 years in maintenance operations in asset-intensive industries.
- Knowledge of fixed plant equipment (e.g., concentrators, screens, pumps, cyclones).
- Minimum 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Completion of leadership or supervisory training.
