Job Description:

Primary Purpose of Role:  

The Supervisor, Global Supply Chain is responsible for supervising a medium to large group of employees involved in supply chain operations. The Supervisor, Global Supply Chain utilizes Lean Materials Management techniques to continuously improve processes and day-to-day duties.  

Key Responsibilities: 

 

  • Hire, lead, and manage a dynamic team to create an inclusive and collaborative work environment

  • Monitor, evaluate, and provide regular feedback on employee growth and implementing improvement as needed.

  • Drive employee engagement and retention initiatives to maintain a motivated workforce – positively represent corporate communications to influence outcomes that support business strategies.

  • Ensure compliance with Allison Policies and manage employee relations matters as needed.

  • Supervise a medium to large group of UAW employees.

  • Utilize SAP to follow the flow of materials and updated inventory.

  • Coordinate material and production mix requirements to meet production schedules.

  • Expedite the movement of raw material, in-process and/or finished goods.

  • Maintain safety and good housekeeping standards.

  • Maintain data such as accurate inventory levels, efficiency, and production metrics.

  • Collaborate with direct and cross-functional team members.

  • Comply with terms of local and national agreements.

  • Meet budgeted cost targets.

  • Execute quality requirements. Utilize quality tools and techniques when necessary.

  • Responsible for training, developing, and evaluating performance of employees.

  • Responsible for performance and disciplinary discussions with employees.

  • Responsible for scheduling overtime of employees in accordance with the contractual agreement.

  • All other duties assigned.

Qualifications: 

 Required: 

  • Associate Degree and/or equivalent experience. 

 

Preferred: 

  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or related discipline.  

  • APICS CPIM certification. 

 

Experience: 

 Required: 

  • Zero to minimal supervisory experience.  

 

Preferred: 

  • 1+ years’ prior supervisory experience. 

  • Experience in a warehousing environment. 

  • Experience in lean manufacturing environment.

Preferred: 

  • Strong understanding of continuous improvement methods/tools. 

  • Knowledge of pull systems / Kanban. 

  • Knowledge / experience with SAP or similar ERP systems. 

  • Knowledge of scheduling and inventory control systems and processes. 

Scope Factors: 

  • First level supervisor: Responsible for daily supervision of assigned team. 

  • Supervises team of hourly/support employees. 

  • Frequently interacts with direct leadership, peers and direct reports within the same function. 

  • Full-time supervisory level responsible for an assigned work group. 

  • Supervises a group that typically consists of support level or production team with similar or varied skills, decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan; receives guidance and oversight from manager or senior supervisors,  

  • Work directly impacts the daily operations of their assigned work group.
