Summary

The Supervisor, Field Operations will be responsible for managing team members in day-to-day operations, as well as conducting and supervising Flight and Demonstration Operations as required.  

Duties

  • Provide direct supervision to team of Air Vehicle Operators
  • Performs facilities, safety, environmental, and operational planning with the USG representative for flight events
  • Identifies design, operational and training deficiencies and recommends improvements
  • Assist Flight Standards Team with curriculum and training updates and implementation
  • Assist Manager, Flight Operations with developing plans and policies
  • Manages team schedule identified from flight operations management
  • Assist Flight Operations Manager in collaborating with Engineering and Program Management
  • Manage, oversee and monitor team performance and development through formal and informal feedback sessions including the completion of performance evaluations, performance improvement plans, and development plans
  • Provides direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance
  • Review and approve employee time cards and expense reports
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience

  • 5+ years’ direct experience in Field Operations team
  • 2+ years’ experience managing teams, processes or projects
  • Operational / Flight Test experience with small, medium or large UAS
  • Demonstrated understanding of military tactics, operations, GPS and Navigation utilizing map and compass
  • Experienced interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, blueprint or sketches
  • Demonstrated basic computer skills and proficiency with office software and productivity tools
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Works well with little or no supervision and exercise independent judgment on a regular basis
  • Ability to gain cooperation of others, conducting presentations of technical information concerning specific projects or schedules
  • Clean driving record in order to drive company vehicles is required
  • Required to pass FAA Part 107 training
  • Must pass and maintain a medical and dental exam for deployment(s)
  • Because of various out-of-area training/maintenance requirements, must be available on both short and long-term deployments away from home, both CONUS and OCONUS consisting of up to 75% travel

Education

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent

Additional Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Unmanned Aircraft Operations or relevant field
  • Previous experience managing a growing team
  • Project Management Experience; PMP Certification highly preferred
  • Prior military instructor/Special Operations experience highly desirable
  • Prefer Special Forces, SEAL, Special Tactics, Ranger, Force Recon / MARSOC, Scout, Forward Observer, TACP, or Aviation backgrounds
  • Prior hobby experience with Remote Controlled (RC) aircraft helpful but not required
  • Has strong communication skills as well as interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with others across disciplines
  • Demonstrates strong analytical skills with which to solve various degrees of complex problems
  • Focuses on teamwork, collaboration and puts the success of the team above one's own interests
  • Able to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, where small teams share a broad variety of duties

Physical Demands

  • Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (Frequent)
  • Lift and/or move between 11-20 lbs. of cases of varying size (Frequent)
  • Lift up to 50 pounds as well as objects of varying sizes for shipment to & set up at various customer training sites (Occasional)
  • Able to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions and traverse across uneven ground and varying terrain (Constant)
  • Stand and/or sit for long periods of time (Frequent)
  • Balancing, handling, fine manipulation and grasping (Frequent)
  • Repeatedly throw objects up to 16lbs over shoulder (Frequent)
  • Good manual dexterity to assemble and disassemble product (Frequent)
  • Crouching, reaching and keying (Frequent)
  • Climbing, stooping, kneeling, feeling, overhead lifting (Occasional)
  • Should be accustomed to isolation and is expected to work long irregular hours, weekends and holidays and in difficult situations, environments and watches

The salary range for this role is:

$71,805 - $101,850
