This position is responsible for the management and on-going development of procedures to analyze possible suspicious activity by customers and agents of Western Union and its affiliates to minimize exposure of the company to potential risk.

Role Responsibilities

  • Manage and continuously develop procedures to analyze suspicious activity by customers and agents to minimize company risk exposure.
  • Ensure compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) requirements for assigned functions.
  • Act as liaison between AML Compliance department and law enforcement, handling inquiries related to subpoenas and related issues.
  • Analyze trends and develop recommendations for business policies.
  • Supervise staff positions, forecast staffing needs, and allocate resources to ensure timely completion of work.
  • Develop and motivate staff to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Execute policies that may affect the organizational unit and coordinate activities with other departments as needed.
  • Manage projects and, if necessary, supervise up to 10 employees.
  • Conduct research and analysis into complex issues concerning patterns and global trends associated with money laundering, terror financing, and other potential risks.
  • Contribute to a global compliance program by analyzing the accuracy and effectiveness of existing or new controls and systems to identify potential issues and areas of improvement.

Role Requirements

  • 3–4 years of experience in compliance, risk, data analysis, or similar roles within regulated environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Knowledge of AML compliance policies and procedures.
  • Understanding of Money Services Business Regulatory Requirements and the Bank Secrecy Act.
  • Ability to mentor team members.
  • Experience with Power BI (including DAX), Power Query, or similar data visualization tools, ideally in a global financial or compliance-driven organization.
  • Advanced Excel skills (formulas, visuals, pivot tables, macros).
  • ACAMS certification is desired.
  • Advanced English level is required.
  • Knowledge of additional languages, such as Portuguese and French, is a plus.
