Overview of the Role

Reporting to the Manager, Administration and Cost Accounting. This position supports the Saskatoon Accounting team by ensuring compliance to established accounting practices and processes. This position is a key element in ensuring delivery of the Saskatoon business plan as it relates to the accounting and administration. A focus on accounting policy compliance and developing best practices across the Saskatoon plant, as well as scheduling and supervisory activities of the Accounting Team.

Salary:

$80,130.00  to $100,160.00 (annual salary)

How you will make contributions that matter:

  • Create weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual financial report for the plant.
  • Responsible for analyzing, providing inciteful commentary to all financial reports within the plant in coordination with the Manager, Administration and Cost Accounting.
  • Demonstrates high knowledge and experience level in presentation of financial results and advising of senior management team.
  • Key person complementing Admin manager with preparation, analysis and presentation of Annual budget.
  • Assist the Accounting Manager with Timekeeping & Attendance Resource Planning Software (Workforce) Plant Administrator position.
  • Preparation and presentation of weekly and period end cost & financial reports that record actual costs versus budgeted costs broken out in various levels of detail online item components.
  • Investigation of variances that affect the financial results & provide written reports on variances when necessary.
  • Inventory control, including supervision and participation of physical counts and reconciliations as required.
  • Provide analytical/accounting/coordination support to aid the Plant Manager in preparation of annual forecasts and budgets.
  • Manage Accounts Receivables and invoicing.
  • Promote and influence team members regarding Saputo culture.
  • Drive and deliver a positive change within the workplace.
  • Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships.
  • Problem solving, conflict resolution, Union negotiation and interaction, and general employee engagement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of a University degree in accounting with CPA designation or actively working towards one.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience ;
  • Proven organizational and communication skills;
  • Experience in Dairy manufacturing industry is an asset;
  • Ability to work without direct supervision;
  • Strong analytical skills, with an emphasis on recommendation for change ;
  • Candidate must have advanced Excel skills ;
  • Must be proficient in current position.  
  • The candidate will show leadership initiative.  They will demonstrate entrepreneurial flare and will have creativity and self motivation.  They must be able to work independently and must have the capacity to multitask.  Furthermore, they must be able to respect weekly and monthly deadlines, bringing those associated duties to full completion without close supervision.
