Benefits to you

  • We pay 95% to 99% of medical insurance premiums for full-time employees [OR up to 99% of medical insurance premiums for part-time employees], including mental health coverage.
  • The hourly equivalent for this position is $44.79 - $69.48.  [OR The annual salary for this position is $93,160 - $144,513.]

Location Highlights

Oregon City, Oregon rests on the Willamette River southeast of Portland. It is part of the Portland Metropolitan Area (along with Beaverton, Gresham, Hillsboro, and Vancouver, WA). Oregon City was the first capital of Oregon prior to the creation of the Oregon Territory in 1848. Before settling on Salem in 1864, the capital was moved several times to several different cities. It is also the end point of the Oregon Trail. Oregon City has the only “vertical street” in the nation, Elevator Street. Activities include museums, historic buildings, and over 22 city parks, including Clackamette Park at the confluence of the Willamette and Clackamas rivers. Oregon City is also home to Willamette Falls, the largest waterfall by volume in the Pacific Northwest.

Position Highlights

The Clackamas County Circuit Court is hiring a Judicial Staff Supervisor (Supervisor 3).

In this role…

You will be responsible for supervision, coaching, and discipline of judicial staff. Provide workload assignments, performance evaluations, and leave approvals. Offer clarification of procedures, rules, and business processes to support accurate and efficient work performance. Serve a liaison between the judicial staff and judges to address workload needs and support consistent application of court practices. Lead and be involved in special projects related to judicial operations. Collaborate with stakeholders to improve processes, workflow, and delivery.

Review and manage the daily judicial staff courtroom assignments. Adjust and assign tasks to staff to ensure adequate coverage for all judges and case types. Conduct team and individual meetings to communicate expectations, review updates, and support collaboration. Monitor workflow patterns, identify process gaps or training needs, and recommend improvements.

You will also be the lead in hiring, orienting, and training new judicial staff. Manage recruitment and selection processes, by requesting new recruitment, screening applicants, and participating in interviews. Develop and update training materials, resources, documentation, and deliver comprehensive training programs for judicial staff. Provide training on court procedures, technology systems, judicial office workflows, and statutory and policy requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

(These must be evident in your resume or work history.)

The qualified candidate must have an associate’s degree in business, management, or a related field.

AND

Five (5) years of progressively responsible supervisory or staff-support experience. Qualifying OJD experience would be at the equivalent of Court Operations Associate or above.

Note: Your recent experience must reflect staff support or supervision, directly or through lead workers, of staff performing a wide variety of clerical, analytical, and technical support duties. The supervisory experience must include most, or all, of the following:

  • special projects,
  • developing and updating policies and procedures,
  • hiring or recommending hiring,
  • training,
  • assigning and reviewing work,
  • evaluating performance,
  • responding to staff concerns, and
  • handling disciplinary actions.

OR

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to seven (7) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

Requested Skills and Attributes

  • Experience supervising staff, with demonstrated success in training, motivating, assigning and evaluating work, disciplining, and coaching.
  • Experience managing operations, projects, or teams.
  • Technical experience with proficiency using software programs, databases, and electronic file management.
  • Communication experience to include direct service to the public/customers, explaining rules/policies/procedures/decisions or organizational practices.
  • Ability to work effectively with elected officials or other high-visibility stakeholder, build trust across differing roles, and support the staff in multiple settings which also have an interest in their work.

Working Conditions

  • This is a full-time position, and the work schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 per work week.
  • Occasional after-hours or overtime work may be required.
  • Frequent phone and in-person contact with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Frequent phone and in-person contact with people who may be facing challenging life circumstances or highly stressful situations.
  • Regular use of the following equipment: telephone, OJD-assigned computer with multiple monitors, copy machine, fax machine, and scanner.
