Position Title: Summer Student, Social Impact & Placemaking
Term Length: Summer 2026 (May - August)
Work Model: Hybrid, up to 4 days in office
Supporting the Social Impact & Placemaking team, the Summer Student will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience within the field of corporate philanthropy, placemaking and experiential marketing, at Canada’s largest REIT.
In addition to gaining practical experience, throughout the work term, students will be given opportunities to expand their business expertise and networks through department information sessions, coffee chats with senior leaders, company-wide culture events, quarterly town halls, and skill-building workshops.
You will have the opportunity to work on several diverse projects. Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Support planning and logistics for community activations/events at our properties, including distributing outreach materials to promote the activation series, event set up and tear down, acting as the on-site liaison, and supporting program evaluation by setting up tracking sensors and leading participant experience surveys
Support planning and logistics for the annual Choice Cares Golf Classic including tracking sponsors’ updates and reviewing digital and print materials before publication
Support planning and logistics for colleague fundraising events, in partnership with Choice Cares committee members
Support planning and logistics of colleague volunteer opportunities
Support in tracking colleagues’ volunteer hours for ESG reporting purposes including liaising with our charity partners
Conduct research on topics related to social impact and placemaking and contribute to the development of process improvement strategies
Currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a post-secondary program (specialization in Business, Planning, Marketing, Communications or Sustainability is an asset)
Passion for philanthropy and community engagement
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail and accuracy
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint)
Event planning and customer service experience are assets
Be available to work during business hours, after hours and/or on weekends based on the event calendar
Some travel is required within the GTA for on-site community activations/events. Access to vehicle is an asset
