OUR SUMMER SQUAD 

Applications are open to current post-secondary students and recent graduates. This is a great opportunity for a current design student seeking an accredited internship as a requirement to graduate. We also welcome applicants from historically underrepresented groups or professionals making a career transition with less than 3 years of experience looking to take the next step in their career  
 
This is a summer contract that will give you valuable exposure and skill-building opportunities within several of our departments. Salt XC’s Summer Squad will consist of a 4-month long contract, full-time hours, from May to August 2026, with the opportunity for a contract extension beyond this date.  
 
Over the duration of the program, you can expect opportunities to network, meet Salters across other departments, participate in additional Learning & Development Opportunities, and receive mentorship from those currently in their desired field. 

This is currently a Hybrid work opportunity with 2-3 days in office required at our Salt Toronto Head Office. 

ROLE OVERVIEW   

SALT XC is seeking Design Interns to join our creative team specializing in either 3D/Motion Design or General Design. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in an agency setting, working alongside experienced designers on real-world projects. 

As a Design Coordinator, you’ll collaborate with the Design Team to develop skills, learn industry tools, and contribute to innovative projects across Experiential Marketing (XM), Branding, Digital, and Print Production. From concept to execution, you’ll play a role in bringing creative ideas to life while refining your technical and problem-solving skills. You will assist in designing assets for various projects, including branding, digital, print, and experiential marketing. 

The 3D/Motion Design Coordinator role will also support the execution of 3D, motion/video design and experiential design. You'll be expected to bring fresh, diverse ideas to the table, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and adapt designs based on feedback while maintaining creative integrity. 

The ideal candidate works well independently and collaboratively with a team as well as being versatile, a problem solver, enthusiastic and eager to learn.  

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES  

Brand-Aware Design Systems & Execution 

  • Support the execution of visual and 3D design assets across digital, social, print, and experiential work under creative direction. 
  • Apply brand guidelines consistently and maintain organized files, versions, and accurate updates. 

Presentation & Team Communication 

  • Assist in building presentation decks, mood boards, and concept boards to help communicate design and 3D intent. 
  • Support internal reviews by preparing assets, capturing feedback, and implementing revisions accurately. 

Strategic Design Thinking 

  • Review briefs and creative direction to understand objectives, audiences, and design requirements. 
  • Contribute visual references, ideas, and inspiration during brainstorms and design working sessions. 

Visual & 3D Craft 

  • Execute assigned design tasks with attention to detail across layout, typography, composition, and basic 3D elements. 
  • Refine work based on feedback while learning tools, techniques, and workflows across 2D and 3D design. 

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS   

  • Recent grad or currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree/diploma in Graphic Design, Motion Design, 3D Art, Advertising, or a related field. 
  • A portfolio showcasing design, motion, or 3D work. 
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, InDesign). 
  • Experience with 3D software (Cinema 4D, Blender, Maya, or similar) is an asset. 
  • Familiarity with PowerPoint, Figma, and Web Design tools is a plus. 
  • Curiosity towards exploring AI design tools. 
  • Ability to think conceptually, problem-solve, and translate ideas into compelling visuals. 
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to articulate creative ideas effectively. 
  • Eagerness to learn, adapt, and collaborate in a team-driven environment.
