About XLabs
XLabs is the innovation arm of OUTFRONT Media. We push outdoor advertising beyond static formats by designing interactive, dynamic, and participatory experiences across digital out-of-home, transit, and public spaces. Our work blends creativity, technology, and culture to turn everyday environments into moments people can engage with, not just look at.
The Role
We’re looking for a Junior Interactive & Game Designer to help us design and prototype game-driven, interactive experiences for real-world media. This role is ideal for someone who loves games, interaction design, and playful systems—and is excited about translating those ideas into large-scale public environments.
You’ll work closely with creative directors, technologists, and engineers to bring interactive concepts to market—from early prototypes to live DOOH deployments.
What You’ll Do
- Design interactive and game-based experiences for digital out-of-home, transit, and experiential media
- Contribute to concept development for gamified brand activations, including mechanics, rules, progression, and rewards
- Create UX flows, wireframes, and interaction states for touch, mobile, gesture, QR, and sensor-based experiences
- Build low- to mid-fidelity prototypes using tools like Figma, Unity, Unreal, WebGL, or no-code / creative tech platforms
- Collaborate with engineers to ensure concepts are technically feasible and scalable in real-world environments
- Support pitch work with visualizations, motion studies, and playable demos
- Help evolve XLabs’ library of interactive formats and repeatable game frameworks
What You Bring
- 2–3 years experience in game design, interactive design, UX, or experiential design (internships and personal projects count)
- Strong understanding of game mechanics (loops, feedback, scoring, progression, multiplayer or social dynamics)
- Experience designing for interactive screens, mobile, or spatial environments
- Working knowledge of tools such as Figma, Adobe CC, Unity, Unreal, TouchDesigner, or similar
- Comfort collaborating across creative, technical, and production teams
- Curiosity about emerging tech, public interaction, and how people behave in shared spaces
Nice to Have
- Experience with DOOH, installations, or physical-digital experiences
- Familiarity with generative or AI-assisted design tools
- Motion design or basic animation skills
- Passion for arcade games, indie games, or experimental play
Why You’ll Love It Here
- You’ll design games that live in the real world, not just on a screen
- Your work will be seen by millions of people across major cities
- You’ll learn how experimental ideas become scalable media products
- You’ll be part of a small, high-impact innovation team shaping the future of IRL media
