The Luminant Summer Internship program’s goal is to develop skills and provide experience for students pursuing a career in the field of power plant operations, maintenance and engineering. Candidate must be a self-starter, flexible, a quick learner, highly motivated and a good team player. Accordingly, you must possess communication, interpersonal, organizational, leadership / initiative, and problem solving / decision making skills.
DeCordova Plant Description:
DeCordova Plant operates and maintains 4 simple cycle General Electric Frame 7EA gas turbines. These gas turbines operate with 2 sources of fuel: primary - natural gas; backup – fuel oil. Commercial operations began in about 1990. The Plant output for each gas turbine is 60 mw’s minimum and 95 mw’s maximum (with the total for all 4 units being 240 mw’s minimum and 380 mw’s maximum). The control system for the combustion turbines is Emerson Ovation.
DeCordova also operates and maintains a 260 mw/1-hr BESS (Battery Energy Storage System). The DeCordova BESS is arranged in 4 different arrays, and there are a total of 86 containers, each with battery modules connected to a PCS (Power Conversion System) which contains the inverters and power transformers. The battery/PCS was supplied by Sungrow and the control system interfacing Sungrow is Fractal.
