What is the opportunity?

Are you a detail-oriented student with a curiosity for risk management, compliance and governance?

We’re seeking summer interns across several Risk & Governance Analyst roles to join our Personal Banking team and play a key role in defining, developing, and documenting business requirements, as well as designing and implementing analytics and reporting solutions. This is an exciting opportunity to work with cross-functional teams, contribute to strategic problem-solving, and enhance our risk management practices.

What will you do?

  • Look critically at processes and engagement model and find opportunities to enhance and/or automate risk process or promote collaboration
  • Explore AI opportunities for risk management
  • Build reports and/or provide analysis in support of issue and event management
  • Support risk reporting, training and documentation including the Operational Risk Scorecard, Regulatory requirements and pipeline, Risk Appetite, Issues & Events Reports
  • Re-organize information, reports, approval documents and presentation materials, including audit materials
  • Assists in the sustainment of a disciplined environment around issues and events, risk appetite and governance & risk oversight
  • Work with business partners to define, develop, and document detailed business requirements.
  • Design and produce regular ad-hoc reports and dashboards.
  • Utilize strategic problem solving tactics and analyze data to provide insights and recommendations.
  • Contribute to the articulation of results, conclusions, and memos of regulatory activities and communicate to key stakeholders.
  • Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for risk management and governance.
  • Strong proficiency with technology - Excel (Macros & Pivot Tables), Tableau, Word and PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Collaborative work style and commitment to get the job done in a detail-oriented environment
  • Leadership acumen and a passion to apply it in a dynamic business environment

Nice to have:

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and highly adaptable
  • Related work experience, including in a risk management and monitoring/oversight role
  • Business knowledge - revenue & cost drivers, understanding of risks and controls

Please note

In order to be eligible for these student positions, you must either: 

  • Be returning back to school after the work term end-date; or 
  • If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating immediately after the work term), you must require the full work term as a mandatory component in order to graduate successfully
