Job Description:

Under supervision of the Principal and/or Assistant Principal, teaches and instructs students in academic subject matter, along with social, behavioral, and other educational or related skill areas; plans, develops, organizes, implements, and assesses a comprehensive educational program for students; assists in other school programs as assigned; creates a supportive and flexible program and environment conducive to learning and personal growth according to each student’s ability and interests. Encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Occasional lifting, five (5) to ten (10) pounds
• Frequent sitting and standing
• Occasional bending and squatting.

Position Specific Information (if Applicable):

Copper Mesa Elementary is seeking a long term substitute SPED - Severe Needs Teacher.

Dates: 1/6/26 - 3/27/26

Responsibilities:

--- Responsible for implementing the teacher’s lesson plan in an environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. This also includes managing student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures, and maintaining and applying discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.

--- To become a long term substitute teacher for Douglas County School District, please upload:

  • Current Colorado Department of Education (CDE)Teaching License, or 5-Year Substitute Authorization
  • Three (3) professional references, minimum of (1) supervisor, include name, phone number and an e-mail address for each reference (if not currently in DCSD Sub Pool).
  • Official Transcripts (required for possible HQ verification)
  • Passing results for any PLACE or PRAXIS tests taken (required for possible HQ verification)
