Job Description

Nevada State University invites applications for the position of Student Worker - Registrar's Office. The student worker will be under the supervision of the Front Desk Manager while assisting faculty, staff, students, and families with issues relating to academic records and registration. This position will develop skills in problem solving, critical thinking, confidentiality, customer services, and clerical skills. The Office of the Registrar advances student success, works with campus partners to enhance the student experience, and upholds Nevada State's institutional integrity through accurate management of student records.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Assist with data entry and archiving student record files into their individual student folders.
  • Provide customer services to students, faculty/staff, and third party entities by answering emails and handling incoming calls on a multi-line phone system.
  • Address and troubleshoot registration related issues while maintaining full compliance with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information with care and accuracy.
  • Apply Nevada State policies and procedures as it relates to the Registrar’s Office.
  • Process Registrar related forms, including but not limited to, transcript and enrollment verification requests, personal information update, etc.
  • Follow up with students when additional documentation is needed for their requests.
  • Provide peer-peer training and support to fellow student workers as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to promote overall operations and success of the Registrar’s Office.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be in good academic standing and maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher.
  • Must be enrolled as a degree seeking student with a minimum of 6 credits in the current or upcoming semester at Nevada State.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experiences with computer applications such as Microsoft Office.

  • Customer service experience/ maintain positive attitude in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to work alone and independently, self-directed, detailed-orientated, and able to multitask.

Work Hours:

Student employees can work up to 19.5 hours per week.

Hourly Rate:

$12.00 per hour.
