Student Internship - Sustainability - Summer 2026

Your Role 

 

As a Professional Intern at Gensler, a global Architecture & Design Firm, your role will be within our Climate Action & Sustainability Studio. Our studio supports the architectural design teams and our clients with forward-thinking sustainability solutions and champions our firm's commitment to reducing the environmental impact of our portfolio. You will participate in many types of projects including interiors and base buildings applying various certification systems such as LEED and Fitwel. Through these efforts you will be contributing to Gensler’s mission to create a better world through the power of design.   

 

What You Will Do 

  • Document and submit LEED and Fitwel credits for review by third party reviewers 

  • Review and research material selections for design teams that meet sustainable criteria

  • Research our clients’ sustainability goals and values for use in client-facing conversations 

  • Assist with preparing for sustainability workshops and presentations 

  • Participation in meetings to support team members in identifying decisions and next actions

  • Passionate about growing a career centered on sustainability in the built environment

  • Committed to pursuing a relevant professional credential (LEED, WELL, Fitwel) 

  • Eager to build detail-oriented technical and data analytical skills specific to the process of designing and constructing buildings 

  • Strong communication skills with proficiency in professional writing and a desire to grow graphic presentation skills

Your Qualifications 

  • You are currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s Program in Engineering, Architecture, or Urban Planning with a concentration in sustainability 
  • You have completed yourthird yearof an undergraduate program orfirst yearof a graduate program and are returning to yourprogrampost-internship.This internship is not for recent graduates. 
  • Self-motivated; someone who takes ownership over their work and is proactive in seeking out resources to support problem solving 
  • Engage as a team player in office culture, initiatives and learning opportunities 

 

*This is not a remote or hybrid position.The successful candidate will be expected to live in orrelocateto the area of the selected Gensler office upon acceptance. 

 

**The estimated compensation range is $24-25 per hour determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
