Job Description:
The Oregon Medical Board (OMB) is looking for a student technical/professional worker to take on various research projects in our fast-paced agency. The successful candidate must be able to apply critical thinking skills in the performance of job duties. This announcement is for one temporary, part time Student Technical/Professional Worker (Intern), with some flexibility in work schedule and remote working.

The mission of the Oregon Medical Board (OMB) is to protect the health, safety, and wellbeing of Oregon citizens by regulating the practice of medicine in a manner that promotes access to quality care. The OMB licenses, regulates and investigates Oregon medical doctors, doctors of osteopathic medicine, podiatrists, physician associates and acupuncturists. Collectively, they are referred to as “licensees.” The Board licenses, monitors, disciplines and educates its licensees to assure their fitness and competence to serve the people of Oregon. Here’s what you will do:
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Research legal issues, past cases and outcomes, licensure issues, etc. Produce reports or other documents as appropriate.
Assignments would include issue-spotting and subsequently researching legal and regulatory topics. This research may result in administrative rules, policy documents, procedures, or a presentation to the Medical Board members.
Examples of projects that might be assigned:
Reviewing consistency in administrative reviews during licensing
Research and creating materials for legislative concepts
Research and drafting proposed rules
What we’re looking for:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a postgraduate student currently enrolled in or having identified a field of specialization in Law or Public Health.
Candidates who are the most competitive will possess the following skills, background, and areas of expertise: (Desired Attributes)
Preference will be given to candidates currently undertaking a Juris Doctorate or Master of Public Health degree and in good standing with their educational institution.
