As the Student Intern for Cash Management-Tax, you will play a critical role in TSX Trust's compliance, directly supporting our Cash Management teams. Your work will involve the meticulous reconciliation and preparation of tax files necessary to generate official CRA tax slips and summaries. This ensures thousands of investors receive accurate reporting on their distributions—and that we meet strict governmental deadlines. This role is hybrid (3-5 days/week in the office) - based in Toronto, ON.
Key Accountabilities:
Reconcile the distribution amounts paid as indicated on funding letters with the records we have in Transtar reflecting the payments made within the relevant tax year
Create end of year tax paid reports and CSV export files from Transtar
Laisse with clients to verify tax characteristics and client CRA account numbers
Review the export files to ensure compliance with parameters of the TaxPrep program
Create or roll forward TaxPrep files
Import the Transtar exports files into TaxPrep
Reconcile the total tax slips and tax amounts
Generate the tax slips and tax summaries
Coordinate the mailing of the tax slips to shareholders
Upload the xml TaxPrep files to CRA
Coordinate the client billing reports sent to Finance
Must Have(s):
Currently working towards an undergraduate/post-graduate degree with a focus on Finance or Accounting
Advanced level experience with Excel
Strong analytical and reconciliation skills
An excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills
Detail oriented with the ability to meet tight deadlines
Nice to Have(s):
Previous experience within a transfer agency environment
Previous experience generating CRA tax slips and tax summaries
