OMERS is seeking a Student Analyst, Information Management to join the Value Management, Risk and Governance team within Data and Technology.

As a Student Analyst, Information Management, this role will provide support the team’s efforts to modernize information governance practices and enable compliance with records management and data retention standards across the organization. This is a learning-focused role that offers exposure to enterprise information management, policy implementation, and Microsoft 365 governance.

Key Responsibilities

With guidance and mentorship from the team, you will:

  • Support the design of SharePoint content management structures (information architectures) that enable the application of Microsoft Purview retention labels to support automated retention and disposal

  • Assist in developing, updating, and organizing training materials, guidance, and best practices related to Information and Records Management

  • Contribute to documenting information management procedures and technical guidance in a clear and structured manner

  • Support business-as-usual activities, including records disposition reviews, Records Management intake requests for SharePoint, and annual site attestations

  • Explore and research opportunities to responsibly leverage AI and automation to improve process efficiency and documentation quality

Your Opportunity

Through this role, you will:

  • Build a foundational understanding of enterprise information governance, records management, and data governance

  • Gain hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, including SharePoint Information Architecture and Retention Management

  • Practice strong written and verbal communication skills by translating complex concepts into clear, user-friendly guidance

  • Learn how large organizations manage information risk and compliance requirements

  • Work closely with cross-functional partners including Technology, Risk, Privacy, Cybersecurity, Compliance, and business teams

What we’re looking for

You are a strong candidate for this role if you have:

  • Currently enrolled in a program in Library and Information Science, Archives, Information Technology, Law, or Business

  • An interest in information management, records management, data governance, or compliance

  • Strong written communication skills and an ability to summarize, organize, and present information clearly

  • A willingness to learn, ask questions, take initiative, and personal accountability for deliverables

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Familiarity with Microsoft tools (e.g., SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Power Automate, Power Bi) is an asset

  • Coursework or exposure to records management, retention, privacy, or information governance concepts is an asset

The expected salary range for this position is $50,700.00 - $70,200.00 per year, prorated based on the term of the contract.
