Job Description

The PV REACH Peer Educator is a trained student leader who promotes healthy relationships, consent education, and interpersonal wellness across campus. Peer Educators serve as ambassadors for respect, advocacy, and connection by facilitating workshops, hosting outreach events, and connecting students to campus and community resources.

This position is ideal for students who are passionate about leadership, integrity, student well-being, and creating a safer campus environment.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate peer-led workshops on healthy relationships, consent, boundaries, and bystander intervention.

  • Participate in campus outreach events, tabling initiatives, and awareness campaigns.

  • Provide accurate referrals to campus offices such as Title IX, Counseling Services, RSVP and Student Conduct.

  • Attend required training sessions, monthly meetings, and supervision check-ins.

  • Assist in planning events for Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and other Healthy Relationships Weeks.

  • Model impartial, respectful, and trauma-informed communication.

  • Maintain confidentiality within the limits of university policy.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Currently enrolled undergraduate student at Prairie View A&M University

  • Must be in good academic standing (SAP) as demonstrated through your college; minimum 2.0 GPA

  • No prior experience necessary

  • For work eligibility during a summer term, a student must be enrolled for at least three (3) graduate or undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done or preregistered at least six (6) undergraduate semester hours for the fall/spring terms.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Minimum GPA of 2.5

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to maintain professionalism and ethical boundaries

  • Commitment to attending full training and required meetings

  • Interest in leadership, advocacy, wellness, public health, education, or related fields

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Previous involvement in student leadership or campus organization's

  • Experience in peer mentoring, facilitation, or advocacy work.

  • Interest in careers related to law, counseling, social work, education, or public service

Other Requirements:

  • Mandatory 3-day training prior to active service

  • Minimum of 10 outreach hours per semester

  • Monthly team meetings
