Student Health and Wellness Event Assistant (Student Wage)

About Student Health & Wellness:

Student Health & Wellness (SHW) supports the well‑being, academic success, and personal growth of all students through services including Care & Support Services (CASS), Disability Services (SDAC), Medical Services, Mental Health Services (CAPS), and Well‑Being Services. The SHW building also offers reservable event spaces and open common areas for the University community.

Position Overview:

Event Assistants are the frontline presence at the SHW Information Desk and throughout the facility. In this role, you will welcome visitors, support events, maintain building safety, and help ensure smooth daily operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist students, staff, and visitors at the Information Desk.
  • Set up and break down rooms for events and meetings.
  • Conduct building checks and report maintenance or safety issues.
  • Monitor activity to ensure policy compliance and cleanliness.
  • Troubleshoot basic A/V issues.
  • Support evening, weekend, outdoor, and special events.
  • Perform daily room and equipment inventory.
  • Assist with general cleaning tasks as needed.
  • Help with evacuations during drills, alarms, and emergencies.
  • Stay current with updated procedures and policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule & Commitment:

  • 8–20 hours per week.
  • Evening and weekend shifts required.
  • Mandatory training before the fall semester begins.
  • Summer availability opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Ability to perform moderately heavy physical tasks (lifting/moving equipment.)
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Preferred: CPR/AED Certification

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
