JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Penn State Behrend, Youth Education Outreach department is seeking graduating high school seniors or current college students interested in spending their summer days working with children at the university’s College for Kids Summer Enrichment Program.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age or older, have valid transportation to and from the program, and be available to work all six weeks of College for Kids. Successful candidates will have an enthusiasm for working with youth, and the ability to actively participate in the enrichment programs to engage the participants in a fun, friendly, and exuberant environment.
Student coordinators are responsible for transferring students throughout campus, to and from drop-off locations to their activities, assisting instructors with lessons, activities, projects, and tasks, monitoring participants during breaks and their lunch hour, and discussing issues or behaviors with parents or guardians. Student Coordinators also monitor students during the pick-up and drop-off times, assist with sorting materials and items for classroom activities, and complete other tasks essential to the functions of the program.
This is a 35-40 hour a week part-time position for the duration of the six-week program. College for Kids typically begins in early-mid June and runs through the end of July or first week of August with the week of the Fourth of July off. Coordinators must be able to work the entirety of the camp. No weekends or evenings required. The position is perfect for graduating seniors or current college students interested in education, psychology, social work, or other related fields.
