Student Assistant – Group Technical

Svitzer offers an exciting opportunity as a Student Assistant in our Group Technical department, where you will join an ambitious team using data to improve the global technical performance of our tugboat fleet. We are looking for a proactive and motivated student with strong analytical skills who can help ensure smooth and efficient workflows that support both the team and our stakeholders.

As our new Student Assistant, you will develop expertise in interpreting and analysing data while gaining insight into technical operations on a global scale. With your analytical mindset, you will help drive compliance, performance monitoring, and maintenance governance across a fleet of 446 tugboats. Key areas of responsibility include developing and managing Technical KPIs, setting up optimisation tools for vessel performance monitoring, and ensuring global compliance with our standard technical processes.

Key Responsibilities

You will work closely with colleagues in Copenhagen and across the globe to deliver the following:

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with Group Technical KPIs.
  • Support the Group Maintenance Manager in updating data in our planned maintenance system.
  • Analyse data and support compliance improvements to our Group Technical Standard Processes.
  • Build optimisation tools in Excel to automate and enhance fleet‑performance monitoring incl.:
    • Improve the functionality of existing Excel models.
    • Identify opportunities to automate data handling and visualisation.
    • Create monitoring tools to support process automatization.
  • Provide strategic project support and perform ad hoc analyses for the CTO and other colleagues.

We are looking for

A confident and engaged individual who approaches tasks with energy and ownership. You communicate fluently in English (written and spoken), work independently, and strive to deliver high-quality results.

In addition:

  • You are actively enrolled in a university programme and eligible to work in Denmark
    – Preferably within Engineering, Analytics, Operations Excellence, Business Administration, or Strategy.
  • You are structured and analytical, with a strong interest in working with data and converting complexity into clear insights.
  • You are curious, proactive, and enjoy taking ownership and making things happen.
  • You have strong skills in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Power BI.
  • You are entrepreneurial about identifying improvement opportunities in processes and operations.
  • You thrive in a busy, international work environment.
  • You preferably have relevant work experience, e.g., from previous student positions.
  • You are comfortable collaborating with colleagues across regions and functions—including senior stakeholders
  • You are motivated by building optimisation tools and automating manual tasks across the Technical organisation.
  • You are eager to understand how technical decisions impact daily fleet operations.
