Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking for Structural Analysis Engineers (levels 1 and 2) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. Positions are located onsite in Melbourne, Florida.
Responsibilities Include:
Performs classical static strength hand analysis, Durability and Damage Tolerance (DaDT) analysis, and finite element modeling and analysis for discrepant detail parts and assemblies fabricated from metal and composite materials
Develop and document detailed structural analyses in support of aircraft repairs including but not limited to free body diagrams, internal or external loading, shear and moment diagrams, and calculation of internal stresses
Analyses will be in support of Material Review Board (MRB) and Aircraft Structural Integrity Program (ASIP)
May mentor less experienced personnel, prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish the project result, prioritize multiple responsibilities and/or accomplish them simultaneously, comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions
This requisition may be filled as either a Associate Structural Engineer (level 1) or Structural Engineer (level 2) based on the qualifications below.
Basic Qualifications:
Associate Structural Engineer: Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 0 years’ experience to include a background in aerospace structural analysis
Structural Engineer: Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with a minimum of 2 years’ experience to include a background in aerospace structural analysis; or Master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 0 years’ experience to include a background in aerospace structural analysis
Relevant experience to include classical static strength hand analysis, Durability and Damage Tolerance (DaDT) analysis, and/or finite element modeling and analysis for discrepant detail parts and assemblies fabricated from metal and composite materials
Experience with MRB related activities
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Structural Engineering
Experience working on an ASIP managed platform
Aircraft structural design criteria, and nonstandard repair and equivalent strength analysis background is a plus
Experience with crack growth software-AFGROW
Familiarity with FEMAP/NX Nastran
Experience with the development of dispositions for Airframe discrepancies
Knowledge of Manufacturing Execution System/ MES, and a Northrop Grumman MRB EN/ST signature is a plus
Current, in-scope DoD Secret clearance or higher
