The Wholesale Banking Chief Data Office (WB CDO) plays a central role in safeguarding and strengthening this data landscape, working closely with Business Lines, Risk, Finance, IT, countries, and the Global CDO.
The Role
We are looking for a Strategy & Operations Lead to strengthen the operational, risk, and regulatory performance of the Wholesale Banking data landscape.
In this role, you will operate at the intersection of strategy, governance, and execution oversight. You will not be a subject‑matter executor; instead, you will orchestrate experts, align stakeholders, and enable leadership decision‑making, ensuring that complex regulatory and governance requirements translate into scalable, effective outcomes across Wholesale Banking.
This is a high‑impact role with broad exposure across the bank and close interaction with senior stakeholders.
What You Will Do
Drive Operational Excellence & Regulatory Readiness
- Steer end‑to‑end operational excellence, risk discipline, and regulatory preparedness across the Wholesale Banking data landscape.
- Ensure data governance, data protection, and regulatory requirements are translated into clear, consistent, and scalable operating practices aligned with Global CDO standards.
Lead Through Orchestration (Not Execution)
- Lead and empower a specialized team of Data Governance, Data Protection, and Regulatory Affairs experts, ensuring their expertise is aligned and orchestrated into coherent outcomes.
- Set direction, priorities, and focus—while execution remains owned by the experts.
Enable Senior Decision‑Making
- Act as a trusted advisor to WB CDO leadership, framing operational risks, regulatory trade‑offs, and priorities to support informed decisions.
- Serve as a strategic filter for external and internal demands, helping leadership focus on what truly matters.
Align Across the Bank
- Act as a central connector between Wholesale Banking, Global CDO, Risk, Finance, IT, Product Lines, and countries, ensuring alignment and synchronized delivery.
- Make dependencies, risks, and impacts visible and manageable across stakeholders.
Create Transparency & Insight
- Provide portfolio‑level insight through dashboards, structured reporting, and clear narratives on progress, risks, and bottlenecks.
- Prepare and structure management and executive communications, translating complexity into decision‑ready information.
Continuously Improve
- Drive continuous improvement of operating models, governance disciplines, and ways of working.
- Embed compliance‑by‑design and strengthen predictability, scalability, and confidence in the WB data landscape.
What You Bring
- Strong experience in operational leadership, risk, regulatory, data, or transformation roles, preferably in a complex, international environment.
- The maturity and confidence to operate with senior stakeholders, balancing business priorities, risk, and regulatory expectations.
- Excellent structuring and synthesis skills—you can simplify complexity without losing critical nuance.
- Proven ability to lead through influence, mobilizing experts rather than executing specialist work yourself.
- A strong understanding of how large organizations operate across functions, geographies, and governance layers.
- Resilience, sound judgment, and the ability to remain effective in high‑pressure, fast‑evolving contexts.
