Strategy Manager, Retail Banking

As a Manager in the RBS Strategy team, you’ll work on high-impact projects that improve customer experience and business performance. A hybrid role, reporting directly to the RBS Strategy Lead (Executive Manager), you will contribute to the RBS Strategy and retail bank transformation to deliver on improved customer outcomes. Responsibilities include identifying key opportunities and making recommendations that will improve customer experience and optimise ways of working to transform business and customer outcomes.

This role sits within the CBA Retail Banking Services (RBS) Centre of Excellence for Strategy, which is accountable for defining the strategic roadmap for the Retail Bank to deliver on improved customer outcomes. The RBS Strategy team oversees the ongoing development of the RBS strategy by advising and facilitating RBS leadership team discussions, preparing materials for the CBA Retail and Executive Leadership Teams and the Board, and by collaborating on projects with leaders across RBS and the Group.

What you’ll work on:

  • Work on different projects that typically range from 2–6-week duration with small multi-disciplinary teams under the guidance of a Senior Manager.

  • Participate in insights generation to understand/reframe the problem, including stakeholder interviews, customer interviews and desk research.

  • Assess commercial opportunities through multiple lenses.

  • Support in synthesising insights into succinct findings via mixed media (reports, videos, journey maps etc.).

  • Support in planning and facilitating ideation sessions and workshops.

  • Support the team in developing prototypes and stimulus for testing and learning.

  • Craft hypotheses and success metrics to evaluate concepts during testing.

  • Support in the creation of project deliverables including insights reports, delivery roadmaps and end to end strategies.

What you’ll bring:

  • 1-3 years’ experience in business strategy consulting at a major consulting firm or corporate in-house strategy function, with Financial Services exposure.

  • Strong financial acumen with a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Legal or a related field.

  • Attention to detail, ability to work effectively and to address diverse problems with guidance from experienced leaders.

  • Curiosity, collaboration and a structed approach to solving problems.

  • Robust communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Interest for the Australian Retail Banking industry.
