The Strategy Management Specialist in Global Investment Strategy (GIS) plays a key supporting role on the strategy team for Ontario Teachers' -- an enterprise which, at its core, is a business investing capital for its members. The role supports the translation of strategic priorities into actionable plans, data-driven insights, and materials that inform senior management decision-making. The role also contributes to the continuous improvement of enterprise methodologies, frameworks, tools, and processes that support Ontario Teachers’ strategic and integrated business planning functions. The Strategy Specialist supports the activation of Teachers’ Forward by coordinating ongoing monitoring and reporting on progress against the strategy. This role also serves as a liaison between the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team in the Finance Division and the GIS team in SSR, ensuring an integrated approach to implementing the enterprise strategy.
You will have the outstanding opportunity to work collaboratively with colleagues across divisions globally and departments to ensure we have the relevant capabilities, operating model, and processes in place to advance our global strategy. This includes working closely with your GIS colleagues within the Strategy & Stakeholder Relations division, alongside the Sustainable Investing, Government and Public Affairs, Marketing & Communications teams and the Financial Planning and Analysis team within the Finance Division.
You will support the annual strategic and business planning cycles by coordinating inputs, synthesizing data, and preparing reports that connect financial and strategic performance
You will assist in tracking and reporting on strategic KPIs and progress against the Teachers’ Forward priorities
You will prepare materials for the annual Teachers’ scorecard and related enterprise performance updates
You will collaborate with divisional planning coordinators to gather and consolidate information supporting integrated planning requirements
You will contribute to the synthesis of business assumptions from across primary business lines, including investments, to inform the annual Integrated Plan and budgeting process
You will support project management activities for strategic initiatives, including tracking milestones and deliverables
You will assist in organizing workshops, meetings, and cross-functional sessions to advance strategic priorities.
You will develop presentations, dashboards, and summaries that effectively communicate analysis and findings to diverse audiences
Conducts analysis and prepares recommendations to support decision-making by GIS leadership, exercising sound judgment in synthesizing data and identifying key insights
Undergraduate degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field
1–3 years of relevant experience in corporate strategy, consulting, or financial services
Strong analytical and quantitative skills
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; ability to synthesize and present complex information clearly
Knowledge of, and interest in, strategy within the context of a global pension fund
Understanding of the financial planning and analysis process
Experience coordinating and supporting strategic, operational, and tactical projects
Experience with data analysis, financial modelling, and presentation development.
Experience communicating and reporting financial analysis
Experience with technology; Power BI and data visualization is an asset
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a high-performance team environment
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word); experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) is an asset
