Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-site Point of Contact (PoC) for the Strategy team at Pier 400, ensuring day-to-day coordination and alignment across Commercial, TECH, OT, Asset Management, Civil, IT, and Operations while executing the strategic priorities set by the Director of Strategy.

  • Integrate all strategic streams into a unified terminal plan that supports short- and long-term operational goals and Pier 400 KPIs.

  • Represent the Strategy team on-site by supporting waterside and landside scopes as required, ensuring continuity of strategic coverage during absences and/or operational needs.

  • Translate strategic priorities into operational actions and measurable performance improvements through analytics, scenario modelling, and decision-support tools.

  • Lead process mapping, standardization, and continuous improvement efforts across Strategy, including Lean/Kaizen events and cross-functional problem-solving initiatives.

  • Ensure Strategy provides proactive visibility, risk identification, and cross-functional alignment through OPS and SLT forums.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Act as the on-site PoC for Strategy, ensuring real-time coordination and alignment across Commercial, TECH, OT, AM, Civil, IT, M&R, and Operations.

  • Provide day-to-day leadership to Strategy functions and maintain continuity of Strategy execution while the Director of Strategy is based in Charlotte.

  • Support waterside and landside Strategy functions as needed to ensure operational coverage and alignment with strategic direction.

  • Ensure strategic plans across landside and waterside operations are fully integrated and operationally executable.

  • Lead integration of forecast inputs (volume, berth windows, yard capacity, rail flows, gate demand) into a unified terminal plan supported by clear KPIs and scenario modeling.

  • Collaborate with Commercial on joint product development, aligning operational capabilities, constraints, and optimization levers with customer requirements.

  • Provide operational feasibility assessments and scenario modeling to support commercial discussions, customer negotiations, and long-term forecasting.

  • Build, maintain, and enhance analytical tools, dashboards, and decision-support systems that enable predictive insight, risk detection, and operational optimization.

  • Maintain KPI visibility across landside and waterside functions and track performance trends to identify opportunities for intervention or improvement.

  • Lead process mapping and standardization of Strategy workflows to increase clarity, efficiency, and alignment across subfunctions.

  • Drive Lean/Kaizen initiatives, structured problem-solving, and cross-functional improvement events targeting Port Stay, PHS, MHPM, yard health, and terminal throughput.

  • Identify operational waste, quantify impact, and implement countermeasures in collaboration with operational stakeholders.

  • Support OPS and SLT cross-functional meetings with structured and proactive strategic inputs.

  • Maintain strong working relationships with Port Captains, shipping lines, Commercial, Civil, IT, TECH, OT, AM, and operational departments to ensure consistent alignment and execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years of experience in logistics, terminal operations or strategy (preferably landside/waterside).

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a high-pressure, fast-paced operational environment.

  • Strong analytical capability and proficiency with data-driven decision-making tools (PowerBI, TOS reporting, Terminal capacity modelling, etc.).

  • Lean, Kaizen, or Continuous Improvement experience strongly preferred.

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and cross-functional stakeholder-management skills.

  • Ability to manage strategic projects involving multiple teams, competing priorities, and tight timelines.

  • Experience collaborating with Commercial, Operations, IT, Civil, and M&R teams.

  • Proven ability to influence and drive alignment at all levels of the organization.

Job Type: Full Time

Salary: USD 120,000.00 to USD 140,000.00

The above stated pay range is the anticipated starting salary range for this position. The Company may adjust this range in light of prevailing market conditions and other factors such as location. The Company will work directly with the selected candidate(s) on the final starting salary in accordance with all applicable laws.
