Strategy Director, Digital Assets Lead

Nasdaq’s Capital Access Platforms (CAP) division is seeking a Strategy Director, Digital Assets Lead to define and drive our digital-asset strategy across listings, index, data, workflow, and private markets businesses.

The role’s mandate is to identify where digital assets create durable strategic advantage for CAP, develop the thesis, and translate it into actionable initiatives. This role owns the definition of organic growth opportunities, but also evaluates inorganic opportunities with fintechs (e.g., acquisitions, minority investments, partnerships) and makes investment recommendations to CAP and Nasdaq leadership.

This is a senior role that encompasses the whole strategy and execution lifecycle. The ideal candidate combines strategic rigor, deep digital-asset fluency, and demonstrated ability to move from concept to scaled implementation. This role reports directly to the Head of Strategy for Capital Access Platforms, will be a key member of the divisional strategy team, and will interact with CAP and overall Nasdaq senior leadership recurrently.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy Development

  • Define CAP’s digital-asset strategy across business lines, including listings, index, data, and issuer/private-market workflows.
  • Identify, size, and prioritize opportunities within the digital assets space.
  • Evaluate build, buy, or partner decisions with clear financial and strategic rationale, recommend acquisitions and minority investments in emerging fintechs.
  • Develop multi-year roadmaps aligned with CAP’s broader platform strategy.

Translation into Execution

  • Convert strategic priorities into concrete initiatives, including:
    • Product concepts and requirements
    • Pilot design and testing frameworks
    • Scaling plans and go-to-market strategies
  • Partner closely with product, technology, commercial, and legal teams to bring initiatives to market.
  • Establish KPIs and performance tracking to evaluate commercial viability and strategic impact.

Senior Leadership Engagement

  • Own the digital assets strategic narrative and rationale on behalf of CAP
  • Present recommendations on organic and inorganic investments to senior CAP and enterprise leadership.
  • Act as a thought partner to senior executives on emerging market structure, regulatory developments, and competitive dynamics.

Ownership & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Lead initiatives with minimal supervision and without formal authority.
  • Influence stakeholders across business lines and functions.
  • Drive momentum in ambiguous, evolving environments.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of overall professional experience, strong understanding of financial services landscape, including capital markets, wealth & asset management, and market infrastructure.
  • 5+ years of experience in strategy consulting and/or corporate/business strategy, primarily front-office (e.g., growth strategy, product strategy, client research & insights, go-to-market).
  • Demonstrated depth of experience in digital assets (e.g., tokenization, blockchain-based market infrastructure, digital custody, digital securities, on-chain data). Ability to evaluate technical digital-asset concepts from a commercial perspective.
  • Demonstrated experience evaluating build-buy-partnership alternatives, including acquisitions and minority investments in emerging fintechs.
  • High ownership mindset; comfortable working in ambiguity.
  • Proven experience translating strategy into execution, including product development, pilot testing and iteration, scaling initiatives, and broader rollout.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently and drive initiatives end-to-end.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; confident presenting to senior leadership.

This position can be located in New York, and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment (at least 3 days a week in office, subject to change), providing flexibility and accessibility for qualified candidates.

The base pay range for this role is $134,000 - $248,000. In addition to base salary, Nasdaq provides a generous annual bonus/commission (short-term incentive), and equity (long-term incentive), comprehensive benefits, and opportunity for growth. Exact compensation may vary based on several job-related factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to: skill set, experience, education/training, business needs and market demands.
