Join BILL’s Strategy & Operations team as a Director (Individual contributor), where you will develop and support our Software business unit strategy and ensure efficient execution of its key business goals. This role will work closely with leadership of our Software business, but collaborate deeply with the broader Strategy & Operations team to help reinforce the connective tissue between corporate and business strategies and drive alignment across cross-BU initiatives. The Director of Strategy & Operations will be responsible for defining and delivering the next phase of growth for BILL’s Software products and, while this role will be an individual contributor position, it will lead internal cross-functional teams across critical strategic projects. It will also lead key rhythms of the business function and be responsible for managing and tracking business performance, diagnosing issues and opportunities, and contributing to Executive and Board updates. The ideal candidate has strong business intuition, the ability to leverage a strategy toolkit to assess opportunities, exceptional organization and project management skills, and can effortlessly build relationships to influence and support stakeholders. Additionally, this work will contribute heavily to the ongoing development and execution of BILL’s AI vision, focused on unlocking market-leading value creation via agentic automation for our SMB customers and Accountant clients. 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead development and execution of multi-year business unit strategy for Software business, ensuring alignment with BILL’s broader business objectives and long-term vision
  • Identify and execute key strategic initiatives that align with BILL’s business objectives and drive measurable impact across the organization
  • Lead comprehensive planning processes for the Software BU, ensuring alignment with long-term priorities while adapting to changing market and company conditions
  • Oversee business performance metrics, analyze critical data sources, and translate findings into actional insights 
  • Conduct regular analysis on key industry and competitive trends 
  • Prepare executive-level content to communicate business performance and opportunities
  • Advocate for data-driven decision-making across the organization, establishing robust frameworks for evaluating impact
  • Serve as a visible leader and thought partner—creating structure for complex challenges and accelerating high-visibility initiatives

 

We’d love to chat if you have:

  • 10+ years of experience, with direct expertise in both Strategy Consulting and at a company in a corporate/Product Strategy or Business Operations role; ideal candidate has 3+ years of direct experience working at a SaaS company
  • Deep familiarity with GenAI software offerings and experience scaling AI initiatives within software businesses 
  • Demonstrated experience driving high-impact, strategic initiatives and influencing senior stakeholders through data-driven recommendations
  • Seasoned generalist with direct experience working in or collaborating across several different functions including Strategy, Operations, Finance, Product, Marketing
  • Exceptional business acumen & data orientation, with strong ability to synthesize complex data and business trends and translate them into actionable plans.
  • Proven leadership skills, with a track record of motivating teams to execute towards and exceed ambitious goals 
  • Expertise in operational excellence, change management, and strategic planning for multi-functional teams.
  • Strong history of building collaborative relationships across product and business teams; ability to structure and clarify ambiguous subjects.
  • Outstanding communication, executive presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a lean, high-growth, fast-paced organization, with a positive, can-do, and team-oriented mindset

Our ranges for each role and job level are based on a variety of factors including candidate experience, expertise, and geographic location and may vary from the amounts listed below. The role is also eligible for a competitive benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, flexible spending & health savings account, paid holidays, paid time off, and other company benefits. Zone 3 -Utah (includes Utah office), Houston TX, Florida, North Carolina
$184,400$230,500 USD
