Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Sourcing, you will be responsible for supporting and fostering the Strategic Sourcing process to reduce costs, improve quality, and optimize supplier relationships across the Data & Technology spend category enterprise wide.

We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about Procurement and with extensive experience in sourcing a wide range of goods and services with a strong focus on hardware, software, cloud and IT professional services. The opportunity spans across the organization and will require interaction with employees at all levels. The successful candidate will have strong project management skills, analytical skills, superb communication skills and a solid foundation on Procurement best practices.

As the Strategic Sourcing Specialist Data & Technology, you will be responsible for:

Category Management

  • Maintain category plans for all Data and Technology cost centres and spend categories.
  • Assess, define and resolve procurement issues, including contract terms & conditions and escalations by internal stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Manage the strategic sourcing pipeline of projects for all Data and Technology in partnership with the Manager, Strategic Sourcing.
  • Conduct market analysis, supplier assessments, and risk assessments to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Manage supplier relationships, performance, and contracts for assigned technologies to ensure compliance with established agreements and continuous improvement and escalate to the Manager, Strategic Sourcing when required.
  • Experience working with VARs and OEMs is preferred.

Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Governance

  • Under the leadership and in close collaboration of the Manager, Strategic Sourcing, provide expertise in the preparation of RFx documents as well as manage the Strategic Sourcing process end-to-end, from needs identification to RFX to contract(s) and PO execution.
  • Lead supplier negotiations to achieve favorable terms and conditions, including pricing, payment terms, and service level agreements.
  • Support and foster the enforcement of Procurement Policy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including procurement, finance, operations, and quality to align sourcing strategies with business objectives in partnership with the Manager, Strategic Sourcing.
  • Support and foster initiatives to standardize processes, streamline operations, and enhance efficiency within the strategic sourcing function in partnership with the Manager, Strategic Sourcing.

Relationship Management & Communication

  • Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders across Data and Technology as well as key Tier-1 suppliers.
  • Individual will need to be able to understand our technology universe and groups that use it.
  • Strong team player, able to work individually but also as part of a large team supporting Data and Technology across OMERS.
  • Excellent customer service orientation.

To succeed in this role, you have:

  • Minimum of 4+ years experience in IT Procurement, preferably within a Financial Institution or other complex, matrixed global organization.
  • University degree in business administration, supply chain management, or related discipline.
  • Strong project management skills, experience managing complex projects, and keen attention to details.
  • Strength in Professional Services and IT Procurement is required (SW, HW and Cloud).

The expected salary range for this position is $72,000.00 - $108,000.00 per year, prorated based on the term of the contract.
