Purpose of Role: We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Sourcing Manager to lead a team of Category, Project and Associate Buyers across the Africa region. This role is pivotal in driving procurement excellence through category management, process optimization, and compliance enforcement. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering efficiency improvements, ensuring alignment with the Delegation of Authority (DoA) framework, and embedding strategic sourcing practices across the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Team management: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Category, Project and Associate Buyers across the Africa region. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Ensure workload is effectively distributed and driven through category management principles.
  • Strategic Sourcing & Category Management: Develop and implement sourcing strategies for direct materials aligned with business objectives across Africa. Drive category management excellence, ensuring strategic alignment and value delivery. Ensure suitable support is through the managed projects team and lead on procurement activities & supplier selection is aligned within the relevant teams. Monitor market trends and supplier performance to inform sourcing decisions.
  • Process Optimisation & Efficiency: Identify and address inefficiencies in procurement processes and systems. Champion automation, standardization, and simplification initiatives. Collaborate cross-functionally to streamline procurement workflows and reduce cycle times. Align and implement best practice processes with teams across the EMEA region.
  • Governance & Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to the Delegation of Authority (DoA) document. Implement controls and audit mechanisms to maintain procurement integrity. Provide training and guidance to the team on compliance and governance standards.
  • Stakeholder engagement: Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders across functions and geographies. Act as a strategic partner to business units, understanding their needs and aligning sourcing strategies accordingly. Communicate sourcing plans, performance metrics, and improvement initiatives effectively.

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in strategic sourcing, category management, and procurement leadership.
  • Strong understanding of procurement governance, compliance frameworks, and DoA structures.
  • Demonstrated success in leading and building teams.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement systems and tools (e.g., SAP, Coupa).
  • Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field; MBA or CIPS certification preferred.
