Strategic Sourcing Category Lead, Americas – CAPEX, Maintenance, and Turnarounds
Huntsman is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Category Lead, Americas – CAPEX, Maintenance, and Turnarounds supporting the Americas region located at Global Headquarters – The Woodlands Waterway. This position will report to the Strategic Sourcing Manager.
Job Scope
Huntsman is searching for a new Strategic Sourcing Category Lead, Americas – CAPEX, Maintenance, and Turnarounds for the Americas region. This role will be directly responsible for Strategic Sourcing initiatives in the region, as well as support or lead global initiatives in the assigned categories, as required. The position operates in a hybrid work environment, typically four days in the office and one day working from home.
In summary, as the Strategic Sourcing Category Lead, Americas – CAPEX, Maintenance, and Turnarounds, you will:
CATEGORY MANAGEMENT – Under general guidance of the Strategic Sourcing Manager, lead the development and implementation of Category Strategies in CAPEX, Maintenance, and Turnaround through the 7-step Strategic Sourcing Methodology adopted by Huntsman.
CATEGORY SOURCING – Under general guidance of the Strategic Sourcing Manager, lead the collection and analysis of business requirements, key cost drivers, supplier capabilities, and industry trends to develop and implement category sourcing strategies that will optimize overall value for Huntsman while ensuring supply and quality.
STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT – Under general guidance of the Strategic Sourcing Manager, develop and maintain stakeholder relationships across the Americas region to ensure business alignment with the category sourcing strategies and continuous improvement of supplier performance.
NEGOTIATION – Negotiate supply agreements and contracts in accordance with internal procedures, terms and conditions, expected service levels, quality requirements, and financial conditions.
CONTRACT MANAGEMENT – Create, and support the team in creating, supply agreements in line with legal guidelines. Ensure supplier contracts are approved, stored, and maintained according to internal procedures.
SUPPLIER RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT – Under general guidance of the Strategic Sourcing Manager, lead the development and implementation of the Supplier Relationship Management program for the CAPEX, Maintenance, and Turnaround categories to develop and grow relationships between new and existing key suppliers and key business stakeholders to ensure long-term value for Huntsman.
COMPLIANCE – Understand and adhere to the organization's policies and procedures and relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct. Ensure that CAPEX, Maintenance, and Turnaround services are provided on time, on specification, from approved sources, and in compliance with all relevant regulations and internal requirements.
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT – Continuously develop skills and capabilities by participating in formal and informal training, seeking coaching and mentoring support, and developing industry understanding of technology, best practices, and regulations.
ORGANIZATIONAL INTEGRATION – Support integration and collaborative savings delivery from a Purchasing perspective related to Huntsman merger and acquisition activities.
Qualifications
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.
Minimum Qualifications
Education required:
Bachelor’s degree is required. Degrees in Engineering, Construction Management, Supply Chain, Business, or related fields are preferred. Master’s degree is a major plus.
5+ years of verifiable experience leading categories in procurement environments operating under structured strategic sourcing methodologies in global organizations (i.e., 7-step or similar) is required.
Clear understanding of Front-End Loading Methodology, Stage Gate Methodology, Agile/Scrum Methodology, and PMI Framework (PMBOK®) is required.
Clear understanding of contracting principles as applied to CAPEX, Maintenance, and Turnaround projects is required.
Ability to interpret market data trends and insights to develop sourcing strategies is required.
Significant experience with sourcing tools and techniques to conduct detailed spend analysis of complex spend data is required.
Deep understanding and use of key financial indicators (TCO, EBITDA, ROI, payment terms, savings measures, mark-up setting, etc.) to help make better business decisions.
Advanced knowledge of multi-task computer operation in a Windows environment, particularly Windows-based PC systems, emphasizing Excel (i.e., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, graphs) and related analytical tools (i.e., PowerBI), and PowerPoint proficiency.
Ability to travel up to 25% internationally and domestically, primarily in the State of Louisiana, is required.
Ability to work in a hybrid work environment, typically one day working from home and four days in the office each week, is required.
Fluency in English is required.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience or knowledge related to CAPEX, Maintenance, and Turnaround purchasing in petrochemical or heavy industrial settings.
Certification: C.P.M., PMP, Scrum, Lean, Green/Black Belt, CPSM, CSCP, CPIM, CLTD, CPCM, CCCM, CPSD, or other related certifications.
Experience in implementing sustainability initiatives as applied to CAPEX, Maintenance, and Turnaround projects.
Working knowledge of SAP Ariba strongly preferred.
Working knowledge of Spanish and/or Portuguese is a plus but not required.
