Join Heidelberg Materials UK and help shape the future of sustainable construction. We’re looking for a Strategic Sourcing Buyer to manage procurement for strategic goods and services across our aggregates, cement, concrete, and asphalt plants. with a total spend responsibility of over £20 million. Reporting directly to the UK Procurement Director, the role focuses on strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, risk management, and procurement process optimisation.
What You’ll Do
- Strategic Sourcing: Identify and deliver procurement projects for multiple UK Cement, Aggregate, Concrete & Asphalt plants, reducing costs and improving processes.
- Negotiation: Achieve optimum terms and conditions through effective negotiation, eTender, and eAuction.
- Procurement Guidance: Support allocated plants with best practices, preferred vendors, and compliance, to uncover cost-saving opportunities and improve P2P processes.
- Opportunity Identification: Work closely with unit managers to uncover new strategic procurement opportunities.
- Framework Implementation: Assist Category Managers with global and national agreements.
- Performance Delivery: Meet KPIs set by the UK Procurement Director, including savings and automation targets.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in strategic sourcing and procurement.
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Ability to analyze costs and identify savings opportunities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across teams.
- Familiarity with eProcurement tools and P2P processes.
Education
- A degree in business, finance, or engineering is required; CIPS qualification is preferred
- The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of strategic procurement experience, preferably in manufacturing or engineering, with global sourcing exposure and strong negotiation skills.
