The Community You Will Join

Airbnb is seeking a Strategic Partnerships & Business Development Lead for Canada, reporting to the Country Manager,  Canada. This role requires office presence in Montreal, Canada. 

In this role, you will lead the strategic business partnerships mandate in the territory and collaborate closely with the Business, Supply, Product Marketing, Finance and Legal functions across Canada, regional offices and Headquarters in San Francisco. 

The Difference You Will Make

The Business Development Lead for Airbnb Canada leads business partnerships and business development activities in the territory. This role reports directly to the Country Manager.

A Typical Day

  • Identifies opportunities for establishing partnerships and business development activities that support our business goals. 
  • Establishes and maintains partnerships at local level.
  • Sources input of needs from all business areas that could possibly be filled or amplified by partners to drive broader country and company goals
  • Ensures partnerships and business development activities are coordinated across all business areas.
  • Evaluates the financial and strategic benefits of potential partnerships.
  • Develop a clear understanding of the competitive landscape for our businesses.
  • Build and maintain relationships with potential partners and collaboration opportunities.
  • Manages and engages current partnerships in the market.

Your Expertise

  • 10-12 years of experience in strategic partnerships, business development or related field
  • Critical:
    • Relationship building and negotiation capabilities with external executive stakeholders
    • Maintain engagement of current partner ecosystem
    • Superpower: able to develop growth strategies focused both on financial gain and product development. 
    • Growth obsessed
    • Deep business acumen to conduct extensive market research and anticipate product and business needs
  • Ideal:
    • Prior experience in Consulting, Marketing, Finance, or Business Development roles.
    • Ability to build relationships and influence internal executive stakeholders and build long-term external relationships with new and existing partners.
    • Strong strategic and critical thinking skills - ability to connect dots and proactively develop proposals and solutions
    • Equal parts right brain and left brain; able to disassemble problems and rebuild them creatively
    • Able to effectively partner with our finance and legal teams to ensure adherence to budgets and law-established rules and guidelines
    • Strong project management and organization skills
    • Successful candidate will be an ultimate host who is able to use judgment and nuance in getting things done on behalf of the Country Manager without overusing the authority endowed in the role.
    • Able to deal with massive complexity
    • Ability to work in both official languages is considered a nice to have
    • Ability to take global GTM template and localize to make most relevant to the Canadian market
  • Key Collaborators: Partnership/BD, Business, Supply, Marketing, Comms, Finance, and Legal.

Your Location:

This position is Canada - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. While the position is Remote Eligible, you must live in a province where Airbnb Canada, Inc. has a registered entity. The base pay range shown below is annualized, is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
