Job Description:

Summary:

The Strategic Events Assistant will help the University Advancement’s Strategic Events team with executing events for the division. This student will support event logistics for high-profile stewardship events as assigned. Events include but are not limited to the University’s President’s Circle Celebration, Scholarship Luncheon, and other high-level donor and leadership events. This role requires a high attention to detail.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage event registration process, including updating database information and uploading post-event attendee information into our database.
  • Complete requests for space reservations, photography, and parking.
  • Provide day-of-event support, including event set up, guest registration, and event breakdown.
  • Design electronic invitations, event registrations, and forms within our Engaging Networks software.
  • Research external venues, caterers, and other vendors as necessary for off-campus events both in DC and around the country.
  • Coordinate travel for off-campus events, including booking flights, drafting itineraries, and managing hotel blocks.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • Student.
  • Part-time.
  • 15 - 20 hours per week.
  • This position is located at 4401 Connecticut Ave NW.  
  • This position requires partial presence in the office.

Salary Range:

  • $17.95 - $19 per hour (commensurate with experience).


Required Education and Experience:

  • Enrolled student at American University.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Mature judgment and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines while paying close attention to detail.
  • Ability to remain focused in a cubicle environment.
  • Proficient in computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Event experience is a plus.
  • Graduate students encouraged to apply.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

  • Federal Work Study Award students are strongly encouraged to apply.
