Strategic Alliances Manager (Fluent Russian)

The Role: S&P Global Energy manages a number of broad and complex relationships with organizations and individuals crucial to our success and regional market position. These include high-priority entities such as government bodies, regulatory authorities, industry associations, tax agencies, supervisory institutions, and influential think tanks—particularly across the Eurasia and CIS+ regions.

Based in our new Istanbul office, the Senior Manager, Strategic Alliances will help coordinate and drive S&P Global Energy’s Global Strategic Alliances / Key Influencer Program, with a key focus on energy-linked markets and their intersections with emerging markets across the region. The role reports to the Global Director of Strategic Alliances within S&P Global’s Commercial Strategy organization. Russian language proficiency is required due to the regional focus on CIS+ markets.

Global Strategic Alliances / Key Influencer Program – Eurasia & CIS+

  • Identify, assess, and categorize strategic alliances and key influencers by region, country, and commodity sector, with emphasis on Eurasia and CIS+.

  • Build and manage highly strategic, senior-level relationships using a diplomatic, culturally sensitive approach.

  • Coordinate multi-stakeholder engagement strategies across Content, Research, Marketing, and Commercial leadership teams.

  • Establish commercial strategies for high-priority entities based on entity type, geographic relevance, and sector.

  • Develop data- and information-sharing approaches that amplify the use of S&P Global Energy products and services, increasing visibility and supporting long-term commercial growth.

  • Partner closely with senior Content and Commercial leaders to prioritize and categorize regional strategic relationships.

  • Assess the current relationship landscape, monitor progress, and evaluate impact to S&P Global Energy.

  • Define and implement periodic action plans for high-priority organizations in both emerging and established markets across the region.

Tender Process Management for High-Priority Entities

  • Monitor tender platforms for existing and prospective partners across Eurasia and CIS+.

  • Lead and coordinate global tender processes in partnership with Commercial, Product, Legal, and Data Governance teams.

Contract Management

  • Work with regional Business Portfolio Managers and Commercial Managers to manage the program pipeline and contract lifecycle.

  • Record meeting outcomes, and oversee renewals from a strategic perspective.

Functional and Business Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of energy, commodities, and futures markets, ideally within Eurasia/CIS+.

  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and business development capability, including experience establishing relationships with governments, regulators, and other strategic bodies.

  • Broad knowledge of industry dynamics, benchmark evolution, and the competitive landscape, along with the ability to develop deep expertise in S&P Global Energy’s data, analytics, and services.

Problem Solving

  • Manage complex multilateral relationships and contractual engagements.

  • Resolve challenging commercial and stakeholder-related issues while expanding recognition of the S&P Global Energy brand and deepening engagement with key regional influencers.

Interactions

  • Work frequently with regional business leaders, internal stakeholders, and C-suite executives across the region.

  • Strong communication and diplomatic skills required, along with the ability to coordinate geographically dispersed teams and drive cross-functional initiatives to completion.

Typical Scope & Impact

Strategic relationships with high-priority organizations—such as intergovernmental bodies, ministries, market authorities, key trade associations, and regulators—play an essential role in S&P Global Energy’s ability to support customers and operate effectively in the Eurasia and CIS+ markets. These entities can influence policy and regulatory outcomes that materially affect our commercial landscape and client base.

Minimum & Preferred Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Business, International Relations, or similar relevant fields.

Minimum & Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Fluency in both Russian and English is essential. The candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in both languages to effectively engage with clients and stakeholders.

  • This position is not eligible for sponsorship. Candidates must possess the necessary work authorization to be eligible for employment without the need for sponsorship or assistance. 

  • Proven industry experience in commodity and financial markets, energy markets, or within a Price Reporting Agency (PRA).

  • Experience working with stakeholders in Eurasia and/or CIS+ markets.
