Lets find your Role:

As a Store Planning Manager - Trading Projects, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of ASDA’s store estate. Working within the Store Development team, you’ll be at the centre of how we plan, optimise, and evolve our in-store environments, ensuring they meet the needs of our customers today while anticipating the demands of tomorrow.
You will lead the planning and execution of some of our most important trading initiatives - from existing space updates to new service propositions - translating business strategy into clear, actionable store plans. This means collaborating across multiple teams, transforming data and insight into compelling layouts, and driving projects that directly enhance the customer and colleague experience.
A key part of your role will be to ensure that store spaces are used brilliantly and effectively. You’ll balance commercial ambition with operational reality, making smart decisions that maximise sales, improve flow, and support category growth. You’ll maintain accuracy across our store plans, lead discretionary space planning, and be a champion for retail-first thinking across every plan and project.
You’ll also be responsible for upholding strong governance around space, assets, and layout changes - ensuring clarity, consistency, and robust decision-making across the estate. Through excellent communication, problem-solving, and your ability to “join the dots”, you will enable cross-functional teams to deliver at pace and with confidence.
Ultimately, this is a role for someone who loves making things happen, thrives in a fast-moving environment, and wants to have a tangible impact on how millions of customers shop in our stores every week.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Store & Space Planning
  • Lead updates to existing store plans, ensuring accuracy and alignment with current trading requirements.
  • Manage and deliver discretional space planning, ensuring the right balance of space by category to optimise customer experience and sales.
  • Produce and update space and range plans to support upcoming initiatives and business change.
Trading Project Leadership
  • Own planning of key trading projects (e.g., front-end transformation, service hubs, new trading formats).
  • Join the dots across multiple functions to ensure seamless execution - from concept design through to store launch.
  • Lead project governance, ensuring milestones, decisions, and risks are clearly communicated and managed.
Cross-Team Enablement & Collaboration
  • Work closely across Store Development and wider Property, Commercial, Central Operations, Modular / Floor Planning, and wider business teams.
  • Act as a key connector, ensuring that plans are fully enabled, aligned, and delivered at pace.
  • Bring clarity, insight, and structure to complex multi-stakeholder work.
Governance
  • Support the development, planning, and tracking of asset replacement programmes to ensure stores remain safe, efficient, and customer-ready.
  • Maintain robust processes across store development activities, ensuring adherence to standards.
Let's find out about you:
  • Brings the best out of others:  you thrive on working collaboratively and inspire teams to deliver their very best.
  • Sees the bigger picture: you're able to balance commercial, customer, and operational considerations.
  • Joins the dots: you connect information, teams, and insights to create simple, actionable plans.
  • Has strong attention to detail: ensuring plans, drawings, and execution steps are precise and robust.
  • Has a retail-first mindset: you understand what matters most to colleagues and customers in-store.
  • Is a natural problem-solver: you cut through complexity and find smart, pragmatic solutions.
  • Makes stuff happen: proactive, resilient, and brilliant at delivering at pace.
  • Can work confidently with CADS (or is eager and quick to learn).
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and embraces change with energy and positivity.
