Hourly Pay Range:

$26.61 - $39.92 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Sterile Processing Supervisor – Sterile Processing Department - Days

Position Highlights:

  • Sign on bonus: 5k

  • Location: Arlington Heights, IL

  • Full Time/Part Time: Full time

  • Hours: Flexible Primary Hours between 3:00am-6:00pm

What you will do:

  • Responsible for oversight of Night Shift Staff

  • Responsible for day-to-day operations of Day Surgery Center

  • Responsible for vendor management

  • Responsible for the sterile processing function of the Sterile Processing Department.

  • Maintain and provide an adequate supply of sterilized products for the OR, nursing units, and other departments.

  • Oversees and evaluates the performance of all support positions in the department.

  • Responsible for the supervision of all activities in the processing area. Schedules staffing levels to assure proper production of supplies. Adjusts schedule to meet department needs.

  • Trains, evaluates, and, when necessary, recommends corrective action and discharge of supervised personnel.

  • Observes employee activities throughout the shift to ensure that established procedures are being followed for quality control.

  • Monitors the activities of employees and other personnel in SPD having responsibility for an effective and efficient operation.

  • Notifies a manager of any problems that occur during the shift.

  • Communicates ideas for revisions of policy and/or procedures.

  • Manages the needs lists and prioritizes workflow appropriately.

  • Identifies employee behavior requiring corrective action, discusses behavior with employee, contributes information/documentation to manager when counseling is appropriate.

  • Plans and directs the activities of subordinate personnel engaged in the sterilization, maintenance and distribution of medical instrumentation, equipment and supplies.

  • Ensures manufacturer guidelines for sterilization for all reusable instruments and supplies are followed in compliance with Endeavor Health policies, procedures and guidelines and meet the needs of specific departments. Leads quarterly compliance tracers at other facilities to ensure alignment with accreditation requirements.

  • Ensures proper manufacturer guidelines for sterilization for all reusable instruments and supplies are followed.

  • Responsible for purchase, maintenance, repair and distribution of instruments and supplies. Communicates status of critical equipment and instrument repairs to manager. Arranges for loaner devices when necessary

What you will need:

  • Education: High school Diploma or GED required, College Degree Preferred.

  • Certification: Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) required. Obtain Certified Endoscope Reprocessing Certification within 6 months of accepting position

  • Experience:  Three years’ experience in SPD with one year supervisory experience or Five years’ experience in SPD
