Overview
The educator serves as a consultant, change agent, and facilitator in assessing learning needs, planning, implementing, and evaluating educational activities for the staff of the assigned areas. The Educator plans and implements teaching strategies for all levels of department personnel. As a clinical expert, the educator must demonstrate knowledge of the participant's readiness to learn and ensure the provision of competent services in the provision of a comprehensive range of services in accordance with standards of excellence, age-specific and cultural sensitivity established by Riverside Health System including facility goals and strategic plans. Must be available to educate staff on all shifts as needed and exhibit flexibility to cover unit as needed. Primary job will be located at Riverside Regional Medical Center but expectations include serving as a resource across the organization.

What you will do
  • Creates and provides onboarding/training for new hires and existing staff on proper decontamination, HLD, assembly, and sterilization methods and techniques.
  • Develops and updates training manuals, competency assessments, and monthly in-service materials.
  • Manages the employee’s educational files and the educational module in SPM.
  • Demonstrates the ability to address physician, staff, patient, and community issues/concerns and follow-through within 72 hours. Communicate with the team to ensure understanding. Demonstrates competency and skills in the proactive identification and follow-through of issues to include immediate resolution.
  • Assists with the development, maintenance and systemization of policies, procedures, care, and services provided. Effectively coordinates and integrates services throughout RHS. Maintains knowledge, affiliation/networks with professional/civic/service organizations that support professional development/relationships that align with the Mission, Vision and Values of RHS.
  • Participate in budget planning and monitoring for defined areas to include appropriate resource allocation determination.
  • Creates and maintains an environment that provides integrated leadership and management of the work environment that produces a service/care delivery team that is efficient, competent, and professional in order to produce outcomes and results that meet and/or exceed the strategic/facility/customer service goals of RHS.
  • Monitors clinical activities to identify both expected and unexpected risks and opportunities for learning. Strives to continuously improve service and outcomes through the interpretation and maintenance of regulatory and accreditation standards in accordance with patient safety standards, Standards of Excellence and Riverside Code of Conduct.

Qualifications

Education
  • High School Diploma or GED, (Required)
  • Bachelors Degree, (Preferred)

Experience
  • 3-4 years Experience as a sterile processing technician (Required)
  • 1 year Prior experience as trainer or educator (Preferred)

Licenses and Certifications
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) Upon Hire(Required)
  • Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) (Preferred)
  • Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) (Preferred)
Other Requirements
  • Work/Float in more than one work location
