Stationary Engineer - Plant Operations - Per Diem Days (Non-Union, Non-Exempt)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adjusts, maintains and tests boiler and air-conditioning machinery and mechanical, electrical or pneumatic control instruments and safety devices.
  • Applies cost-effective measures in utilization of time and supplies.
  • Available to the Director of Facilities for emergency response situations.
  • Inspects and keeps mechanical plant and all related equipment rooms clean.
  • Maintains logs of plant operations and records maintenance repairs or alterations to equipment.
  • Maintains professional growth and development for job-related skills and techniques through educational programs, seminars, workshops, and experience on the job.
  • Operates, inspects and performs minor maintenance repairs and alterations to air-conditioning machinery and emergency diesel powered electric generating equipment.
  • Operates, maintains, inspects and makes minor repairs to boilers, motors, steam traps, expansion tanks, air compressors, supply and exhaust fans, pumps and valves, water heaters and related auxiliary equipment.
  • Operates, maintains, inspects and performs maintenance repairs and mechanical alterations to manual and automatic gas and oil-fired high-pressure steam or high temperature hot water boilers.
  • Performs any tasks as required for the efficient maintenance of the hospital.
  • Responsible for understanding and participating in the organization-wide Quality Improvement Program through orientation, education, departmental and interdepartmental quality control and planning activities.
  • Responsible for water treatment of boilers, softeners and cooling towers.

Education

High School graduate or equivalent preferred.

Work Experience

Minimum (Required)

Must have 5 years Hospital experience of working with boilers, chillers and related equipment with overall knowledge of general maintenance skills.

500 H.P. Steam License preferred

Pay Transparency

The hourly rate range for this position is $26.75 -$35.11. POSITION SUMMARY

Operate and maintain stationary gas and oil-fired boilers and auxiliary equipment. Takes responsibility for the operation of main chillers and related equipment. Perform maintenance calls for facility.
