THE JOB:
As the Starting Gate Driver, you are the one who positions the gate with precision, setting the stage for a perfectly synchronized start. In that split second when the gates fly open, you’ve helped deliver the rush that fans come for—the fair, explosive beginning that makes every race unforgettable at MGM Northfield Park
THE STARTING RATE: $16.75
THE DAY-TO-DAY:
Stay up to date on all scratches throughout the racing program, ensure the starting gate is properly prepared for each race, and support the Starter (a state-appointed official) in achieving a fair and even start for all horses
Ensure car is fueled, cleaned and maintained at all times during racing meet
Report issues and concerns to the Race Secretary or Plant Superintendent
Responsible for training backup drivers
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Strong driving and mechanical skills
Calm, precise, and confident under pressure
Strong communicator and team player
Must have a valid driver's license
Minimum of one-year prior relevant experience
High School Diploma or GED
