The Naval Power organization is looking to hire a Chief Engineer (CE) for the Standard Missile 2 Blk IIIA/IIIB/IIIAZ (SM-2) production and depot programs. The SM-2 CE will lead in the management of technical performance, risk, cost and schedule of build and delivery of missiles, spares and test equipment to Foreign Military Sales (FMS) countries. This CE role supports four unique contracts with a combined value of >$1B.

The SM-2 IIIA/IIIB/IIIAZ production program delivers multiple different missile configurations to numerous foreign partners.  They are also responsible for the depot activity on the program as well as sustainment of production Test Equipment at multiple production locations.  The CE over these contracts will also have technical oversight for delivery and installation of test equipment at international depot and maintenance facilities.

This position is located onsite in Tucson, AZ.

What You Will Do

  • Helping define and driving production execution based on product vision, strategy, and goals to align with multiple Programs/Customers and facilitate conflict resolution.

  • Ensure technical integrity and engineering execution across the IPT and other functions to meet and/or exceed cost, schedule, and technical requirements.

  • Primary technical point of contact with production team and communication to senior leaders.

  • Support the capture of new business and influence technical and product line road maps, ensuring they are reflected in program planning and execution.

  • Plan out and lead any obsolescence and respin activities.

  • Owning and driving Configuration Control Board and Supplier Change Board.

  • Drive positive change within the production environment as a key stakeholder in Failure Review Boards, FRACAS activities and other continuous improvement efforts.

  • Technically engage with major subcontractors and partners to ensure product deliverables.

  • Direct a team of multi-disciplined engineers in support of production deliveries.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

  • Experience with system development and design, requirements development, management, verification, system integration and test, and production.

  • Experience working on production programs.

  • Experience as a technical leader who can develop work plans and drive execution.

  • Experience leading engineering teams.

  • Experience managing resources with multi-million-dollar annual budgets.

  • Experience in strategic development, customer interface, or contract capture in the Defense Industry,

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • RMD Level 4 Certified Chief Engineer.

  • Excellent communication, technical writing, oral presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience in leading and executing production of complex system architectures.

  • Demonstrated experience across the product lifecycle, including concept development, architecture, design, integration, verification, and production.

  • Proven ability to develop effective internal and external customer relationships to ensure customer satisfaction and continued business.

  • Direct experience with Engineering Risks and Opportunities (R&O) Management.

  • Master’s degree in engineering, Physics, or related discipline.

The salary range for this role is 157,200 USD - 298,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
