As part of the The Jury Experience crew, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality live performances by ensuring seamless technical execution and clear communication across all departments. This role is hands-on, detail-driven, and central to the successful delivery of each show.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced, proactive, and technically confident Stage Manager to support and operate live productions across Sydney and Melbourne. This role is responsible for the preparation, coordination, and execution of all technical and show-running elements, working closely with directors, cast, venue technicians, and production staff.

The ideal candidate is highly organised, calm under pressure, confident in operating Qlab and comfortable leading live operations. You will take ownership of cueing, technical run-of-show, and on-the-ground troubleshooting to ensure each performance runs smoothly and consistently.

Flexibility, independence, and strong communication skills are essential, as the role requires both independent preparation and close collaboration with local teams.

You will:

Pre-Show Preparation

  • Review all technical materials, including images, videos, sound assets, scripts, and cue sheets.

  • Analyse scripts and cue sheets to fully understand show structure and all technical cues.

  • Prepare, maintain, and update cue sheets, ensuring all production cues and technical instructions are accurate and current.

  • Attend rehearsals to work closely with the director and cast to practice cues and refine timing.

  • Attend technical recces (where applicable) and liaise with venue technical teams to align on equipment, setup, and requirements.

  • Participate in onboarding meetings with the local production team to receive materials and project briefings.

  • Conduct independent study and review of all materials to ensure full familiarity with the show.

Live Show Execution

  • Operate the live show using QLab 5, managing video, images, and sound seamlessly.

  • Lead live show operations during performances, ensuring cues are executed accurately and on schedule.

  • Maintain focus and adaptability during live performances, responding quickly to changes or issues.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve last-minute technical issues to maintain a smooth and professional production.

Team Coordination & Communication

  • Act as the primary point of contact between technical crew, actors, director, and production staff during rehearsals and performances.

  • Oversee all technical elements of the show, including lighting, sound, props, and set requirements, in coordination with venue teams.

  • Communicate clearly and effectively with all stakeholders to ensure alignment and seamless collaboration.

  • Support a positive, calm, and professional working environment during live operations.

Show Logistics & Documentation

  • Coordinate and manage printed and digital materials required for each show date.

  • Ensure the run of show is properly implemented, followed, and maintained across performances.

  • Attend technical rehearsals on show dates to finalise setup and cue execution.
  • Complete stage manager report after each show

Requirements

  • Based in Sydney or Melbourne, with availability to work in person.

  • Own and operate a Mac computer.

  • Advanced working knowledge of QLab (video, audio, and image cueing).

  • Proven experience stage managing or operating live performances or events.

  • Ability to work independently, manage preparation time effectively, and take ownership of show execution.

  • Availability to attend:

    • In-person rehearsals (off-site)

    • Tech rehearsals on show dates

    • Onboarding meetings with local teams

  • Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Calm, reliable, and focused under live performance pressure.
