In this technical leadership role, you will be a lead automation expert responsible for developing and scaling the end-to-end platforms that power our development lifecycle—enabling engineering teams to build, test, and deploy software with world-class velocity and reliability.
Rather than just executing tickets, you will lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the core engineering toolchains used across the entire organization. Working closely with the Principal Engineer, you will translate architectural visions into robust, maintainable solutions. Your impact will be measured by your ability to remove friction from the software delivery process and deliver a "paved road" experience across all product domains.
You must have deep technical expertise in infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD to ensure our internal platforms align with engineering excellence standards. You will work in lockstep with Operations (who own the underlying networking and OS) and Engineering teams (who own their service health) to ensure a seamless developer experience from code commit to production.
Drive Technical Implementation: Design and develop end-to-end engineering toolchains that meet complex functional requirements, ensuring alignment with the strategic direction set by the Principal Engineer.
Build the "Paved Road": Undertake the design of complex automation applications and infrastructure platforms, producing technical documentation and design views that ensure system reliability and a superior DevEx.
Execute Engineering Standards: Operationalize the 'Definition of Done' for the toolchain, implementing automated security gating, cost-observability, and compliance requirements.
Bridge the Gap between Dev and Ops: Partner with Operations leadership to navigate the boundaries between tooling and infrastructure, ensuring the toolchain integrates perfectly with underlying systems.
Advanced Systems Integration: Lead complex integration work across diverse technical teams; define integration builds and take preventative action to ensure the stability of the delivery pipeline.
Software Excellence: Design, code, and refactor complex automation scripts and integration services, applying rigorous security measures and leading peer reviews to maintain high code quality.
Configuration & Asset Governance: Develop and maintain sophisticated automation tools to identify and track configuration items across the enterprise environment.
Mentorship & Technical Coaching: Act as a mentor for the DevOps domain, assisting engineers with personal development plans and advising on cloud-native technology learning paths.
Innovation & Assessment: Support the assessment of emerging DevOps and platform technologies to keep the Skyhigh engineering stack modern and competitive.
10+ years of experience in DevOps/SRE/ Platform Engineering.
Deep Technical Expertise: Proven record in undertaking end-to-end platform engineering, infrastructure design, and sophisticated CI/CD automation.
Technical Leader: Ability to evaluate design alternatives and prototype proposed automation behaviors to solve complex delivery bottlenecks.
Collaboration & Influence: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with Engineering Leads, the Principal Engineer, and Operations peers.
Agile Mastery: Demonstrated success operating within a scaled agile delivery framework.
Proactive Mentorship: Initiative and self-confidence to guide junior engineers and shape the technical execution of the team in a fast-paced environment.
Quality Focused: A commitment to measuring and monitoring the application of engineering standards across the entire toolchain.
Methodical Execution: Ability to manage multiple varied tasks with attention to detail and a self-motivated drive for results.
Tooling Requirements:
CI/CD Orchestration: Deep expertise in Jenkins and GitHub Actions for designing scalable, automated pipelines.
Scripting & Automation: Proficiency in Groovy for Jenkins pipeline-as-code and advanced automation scripting.
Modern Deployment & GitOps: Hands-on experience with ArgoCD for Kubernetes-native deployments and Harness for continuous delivery abstraction.
Version Control: Expert-level knowledge of GitHub administration, branching strategies, and repository management.
Cloud-native technologies and multi-platform build environments.
Proven ability to manage toolchains and build agents across Windows, Mac, and Linux environments.
If you’re passionate about building the foundational systems that empower hundreds of engineers and modernizing how cloud security software is delivered, we’d love to hear from you.
