Collins Aerospace is currently seeking a Mechanical Checker who performs a wide variety of highly complex technical tasks which require knowledge of Engineering drawings and mechanical design theory in evaluation of computer models and drawing prints to evaluate electronic / mechanical equipment and systems. Review initial and revision Engineering designs already released and needing revision. Support release of the design documentation and release of documentation into the enterprise business systems.

What You Will Do:

  • Performs the preparation of required records for the release of design data and design documentation into the company data and documentation control systems.
  • Provides design database and documentation checking responsibilities for revisions to existing design and design drawings and documentation.
  • Under limited supervision and direction: Performs a wide variety of complex technical tasks which require knowledge of Engineering techniques and design theory to evaluate mechanical designs. Review Engineering models, and drawing prints, received from mechanical and/or electrical Engineering and other technical support personnel working on the project for compliance to internal and external industry standards.
  • Applies knowledge of manufacturing, tolerancing, and producibility capabilities during the check process to ensure cost effective design.
  • Performs reviews and updates with check prints to meet with company policy requirements.
  • Coordinates with Engineering, designers, or detailers for clarifications of the changes being requested.
  • Verify proper application of specifications for materials, finishes and processes, connectors, or other mechanical components, etc. during the check process.
  • Applies Company, Industry, and Contractual standards during the review of hardware design and documentation data.
  • Completes the preparation of the necessary technical documentation for the release of Hardware design
  • Enters data into the company documentation control system
  • Has an advanced understanding of the CAD and data management tools to enable completion of checking tasks
  • May be requested to assist with CAD tool support team in testing and debugging of software tools.
  • Assist in development of new design/documentation techniques and procedures based on the current government or commercial publications for design/documentation requirements.
  • Provides validation of change definition artifacts for revisions to existing design and drawing/documentation.
  • Provides validation of revision capture definition into formal design and documentation data in accordance with defined change requirements.
  • Provides design database and documentation checking for new design and drawing release

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience performing Checking role (Mechanical systems preferred)
  • Experience using 3D CAD Design (SolidWorks &/or NX)
  • Experience with PDF editing (Canvas or Adobe)
  • Experience using a PDM (Enovia).
  • Experience in GD&T Dimensioning
  • Knowledge of ASME specifications
  • Experience working on government/military programs
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills with the ability to find solutions even when complete information is not available.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while collaborating with team members across different departments.
  • Strong attention to detail.

The salary range for this role is 53,100 USD - 100,900 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
