About the role:
We are seeking applications from a suitably qualified Specialist in Heart Failure and Transplantation to join the St Vincent’s Hospital Heart Failure and Transplantation Service. This position is for 0.5 FTE covering leave within the department . The successful applicant will have experience and expertise in Cardiology with specific expertise in advanced heart failure management including heart transplantation in a teaching hospital environment.
Clinical duties required include:
Provision of clinical services to patients designated as under your direct care, to outpatients and to patients you are asked to consult in Heart Failure and Transplantation;
Provision of diagnostic services including right heart catheterization and endomyocardial biopsy
Provision/facilitation of therapeutic procedures including insertion and management of intra-aortic balloon pump support, and management of patients supported on acute mechanical circulatory support (Impella and ECMO)
Provision of clinical services related to the ongoing management of patients implanted with chronic mechanical circulatory support devices (LVAD and BiVADs)

Selection Criteria:
• Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia;
• Possess, or be eligible to possess, specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent;
• Demonstrated knowledge, skills and high standards of clinical practice in Cardiology with expertise in cardiac imaging and procedures including right heart catheterisation, endomyocardial biopsy and IABP insertion;
• Demonstrated leadership skills that support and foster innovation to create a learning culture, with proven ability to improve the quality of services and patient care outcomes through clinical practice & research;
• Demonstrated ability to provide high quality, compassionate care as evidenced by working as a leader & member of the multidisciplinary team, and active participation in quality assurance & governance activity:
• Demonstrated commitment to teaching at speciality registrar, junior medical officer and undergraduate levels with demonstrated knowledge, experience and understanding of the roles & responsibilities of an FRACP Supervisor of Training
