PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $171,700.00-$209,800.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $133,100.00 - $248,300.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE:

As the Staff Solutions Architect, you will drive the transformation of BECU’s digital member experience by leading the design and implementation of innovative technology solutions. You will bring clarity to complex engineering problems, partner closely across teams, and help drive integration work that elevates BECU’s servicing and branch systems. Your expertise will unblock critical initiatives and reduce architectural backlog, while guiding teams toward scalable, modern, cloud‑native designs. As a senior technical leader, you’ll influence long-term strategy and ensure solutions align with both technology and business priorities. Above all, you will help create the architectural foundation that empowers BECU to serve members better every day.

To join our dynamic team, we require candidates to be residents of WA, OR, ID, AZ, TX, GA, SC, VA, CA, or NC. If you’re located in Washington state and within a reasonable driving distance from Tukwila, we are requesting that you come into our HQ on Tuesdays & Wednesdays.  For those candidates that live outside the commute distance of TFC and in any of our approved remote work locations, this role will be remote. Remote or onsite, we are committed to ensuring you are fully engaged and included in our collaborative environment.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Design enterprise-grade solutions:  Develop and lead solution artifacts that align with technical blueprints, business objectives, and BECU’s architectural direction.
  • Architect scalable, modern systems:  Ensure the solutions you create are cloud‑native, scalable, secure, resilient, and aligned with BECU’s technology standards.
  • Lead complex delivery efforts:  Guide multiple simultaneous architecture and integration initiatives across Retail branch and contact center domain
  • Provide architectural ownership:  Establish and evolve domain-specific architectural standards, patterns, and guardrails used across teams.
  • Drive business-aligned strategy:  Shape and contribute to capability discussions that identify opportunities to maximize long-term organizational and member value.
  • Mentor architects and engineers:  Coach Solutions Architects and technical partners, helping them grow their architectural skill sets and deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Reduce architectural debt:  Support production and engineering teams by addressing design challenges and resolving issues that impact scalability or maintainability.
  • Evaluate technology platforms:  Assess and recommend third‑party tools and platforms that may advance BECU’s technology ecosystem.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends:  Explore emerging technologies, recommend innovations, and bring forward ideas that support strategic modernization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information security, or a related field, or equivalent work experience is required. Advanced degree is preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience designing and implementing technology architectures required, including experience managing delivery of multiple simultaneous complex technology solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in cloud native technology including microservice architecture, Restful APIs, massively scalable designs, digital platforms; experience with implementations of large-scale initiatives required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of technologies and supplier capabilities and experience implementing these into new and existing large infrastructure/systems required.
  • In-depth knowledge of modern technology service architectural hosting, security, and risk management concerns, including IAM, access control, monitoring, IaaS/PaaS/SaaS, and containers required.
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft infrastructure and solution stacks operating in on-premise, cloud, and hybrid hosting environments required.
  • Deep understanding and experience working within Lean/Agile/Scrum methodologies required; scaled agile experience such as SAFe required.
  • Knowledge of industry trends, value propositions, and best practices for technology relevant to the in-scope capabilities required.
  • Proven experience, showcasing the ability to cultivate strong relationships throughout the organizational hierarchy required.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and negotiation skills required.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills for effectively conveying information and providing top-notch customer service required.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills with ability to convey complex technical ideas clearly and persuasively required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in LEAN, Agile/Scrum, or ITIL principles is highly preferred, with a proven track record of implementing one or more of these practices.
  • Working knowledge of architectural frameworks such as The Open Group, NIST, ISO 19xxx, BizBok, or Gartner preferred.
