As a Staff backend engineer in the team building a modern Data Fabric that provides unified metadata, governance, access control and data sharing capabilities across a diverse set of data systems, you will design and implement core services and microservices that power the Data Fabric.
You will work closely with architects, platform engineers, and product managers to build scalable, secure, and reliable backend services that integrate with databases, data lakes, stream platforms, and enterprise applications.
As a Staff Backend Engineer, you will:
Design and implement backend services and microservices that form the core of the Data Fabric platform.
Design clean, versioned, well-documented REST, GraphQL, gRPC, Notification APIs for internal and external consumers.
Collaborate with frontend, DevOps, and data platform teams to deliver end-to-end features.
Implement and optimize service deployment patterns for Kubernetes - including health checks, sidecars, operators/controllers (if needed), Helm/Kustomize configurations, and rolling deployments.
Participate in code reviews, technical design reviews, and DevOps/on-call rotations.
Write high-quality, well-tested code and automation scripts.
We’re excited about you if you have:
5+ years experience building backend services or distributed systems.
Strong experience in Java and Python
Expertise in microservices architecture, service design, API versioning, and operational maturity.
Understanding of metadata systems, data catalogs, or data governance.
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines.
Strong debugging, profiling, and performance-tuning skills.
You may also have:
Experience designing metadata schemas, lineage models, governance classification frameworks.
Experience building connectors or extensions for compute engines, data lakes.
Experience with cloud and on-prem deployments.
