Staff Software Engineer - SAP

Eveleigh, NSW - 1 Locomotive Street Full time

About the Team

We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer – SAP to join our crew, that is currently harnessing cutting-edge technology and solid engineering practices with our Core Banking platform on the cloud. This role sits with a squad that is increasing the platform observability and resilience within the SAP Core Banking applications.

Do work that matters

The Core Account Services Crew is a division of Retail Platforms and Engineering. Be part of the crew that was instrumental in migrating SAP Core Banking to AWS, arguably the biggest and most complex single cloud migration in the country. With close to 40% of the nation’s payments running through this system, the impact of your work cannot be understated. Moreover, since our migration to the Cloud, we've unlocked new capabilities and advanced access to AI that is rapidly changing the way we do work.

Be a part of an innovative group driving transformation on a national scale.

To be successful in this role, some of the broad roles and responsibilities may include:

  • Uplifting and democratising observability, while engaging with architects, product owners, platform engineers and delivery teams
  • Drive DevSecOps adoption by enabling self-service operational activities and dashboards, improving data governance, process, and delivery ownership across product teams for better customer outcomes
  • Lead through SRE principles such as automating reliability and alerting, rapid recovery, perform deep root-cause analysis, and engineer permanent, automated preventative solutions.

We’re interested in hearing from people who possess the following:

  • Superior knowledge of Core Banking systems and experience with SAP Transactional Banking Services (TRBK) including functional (deposits, account management and payments) and technical aspects
  • Extensive experience in designing and deploying scalable, high-performance banking technology solutions
  • High expertise in ABAP development. Use of Eclipse IDE and associated tooling is a bonus
  • Ability to influence and persuade key stakeholders by articulating complex and inter-related problems across systems that impact SAP
  • Experience with service restoration (resolving TRBK functional issues) and incident management through JIRA or Service Now
  • Familiarity with tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Pager Duty or similar
  • Knowledge of SAP Git, GitHub, branching strategies and version control processes
  • Optional but advantageous: AWS, service domains, SOR adapter frameworks, using LLMs and MCPs to leverage AI with ABAP programming.
