We're pushing the boundaries of modern engineering, building blazing-fast, resilient platforms and BFF layers that power next-generation digital experiences.
You have the full-stack and BFF expertise to architect elite, scalable systems, turning complex challenges into elegant solutions with Next.js, React, GraphQL and Node.js.
Together we will innovate at speed and scale, crafting world-class products and high-performance BFFs that empower millions and redefine what’s possible.
Do work that matters:
We're building tomorrow’s bank today, which means we need creative and diverse engineers to help us redefine what customers expect from a bank.
As a Staff Software Engineer in the Integration Excellence Chapter, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the customer experience across the Group’s broader Customer Identity & Access Management Division. From the moment someone logs in to delivering outstanding, visually rich authentication experiences, your work directly impacts millions of people who rely on secure, seamless access every day. This is high-visibility, mission-critical engineering where the systems you build become the gateway to trust, safety, and effortless digital engagement.
You will work with world-class technology and modern engineering practices to design and deliver full-cycle, full-stack solutions across our core platforms. With a strong focus on BFF architecture, Next.js, React, GraphQL and REST APIs, and Node.js, you will drive the evolution of our modern technical foundations while embedding advanced AI-powered engineering capabilities.
Your leadership and technical depth will help teams ship faster, smarter and safer, lifting our authentication and identity services to new levels of excellence.
This is your opportunity to create meaningful impact at scale, shaping the digital front door for millions and defining what secure, intuitive access looks like in a modern, data-driven world
See yourself in our team:
Reporting to the Chapter Lead of Integration Excellence, you will join a team that sits at the heart of the Group’s CIAM ecosystem. This is the team that has built world-class Customer Identity and Access Management services that power secure, seamless experiences for millions. We own and drive the majority of the integration portfolio across CIAM, shaping how identity, security and authentication come together to protect our customers in every interaction.
You will be part of a full-stack, full-cycle delivery model where engineers take true ownership from concept to production. Our modern tech stack gives you the opportunity to work end-to-end across BFF architecture, Next.js, React, REST and GraphQL APIs, Node.js, AI-enabled engineering practices, and cloud-native platforms. This team builds high-performance integration solutions and customer-facing products that define how we deliver trusted, frictionless access every day. Your technical leadership will influence platforms used across the organisation, your ideas will shape the future of CIAM, and your impact will be felt by every customer we serve.
We’re interested in hearing from people who:
Provide strategic technical leadership, shaping architecture, engineering standards, and long-term direction for complex authentication and identity services across the Group.
Drive full-stack, full-cycle engineering excellence within the broader Customer Identity & Access Management division, building the core integration mechanisms, authentication experiences, and orchestration layers that seamlessly connect to our complex CIAM security products, ensuring customers remain safe without owning the underlying CIAM security controls.
Excel in full-stack, full-cycle engineering, delivering customer-facing experiences in Next.js / React and building the supporting Node.js BFF APIs (REST & GraphQL/Apollo) that enable secure login, MFA, and identity flows.
Design and build scalable authentication services, including token management, session handling, and CIAM integration patterns, with a strong understanding of modern identity protocols and data security best practices.
Demonstrate deep capability across cloud-native engineering, from distributed systems and serverless patterns to data storage choices (SQL, MongoDB, NoSQL), ensuring resilient, high-performance solutions.
Advocate for engineering excellence, setting the bar for clean code, testing rigor, observability, and modern DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and automation for delivery at scale.
Collaborate across platforms, supporting web and mobile channels by building multi-channel integrations, reusable BFF patterns, and consistent authentication experiences across brands (CommSec, CommBiz, Bankwest, etc.).
Lead by influence, mentoring engineers, driving technical decision-making, fostering a learning culture, and uplifting engineering capability across the broader CIAM and platform ecosystem.
Champion AI-driven engineering, embracing experimentation, research, and modern tooling to accelerate development, improve quality, and innovate in the identity and access domain.
